When instead of taking one second to open the door now accessing the fridge is a three step process with mulitple possible failure points, brilliant Also the table is semi-automatic but to access something on it you have to swing all the way to the side instead of having it directly in front of you

I think car tech and design has peaked a bit. Going from a 2003 to a 2013 Range was a quantum leap in tech and refinement. But going from the 2013 to this new 2023 is a much smaller step forward.

I have now now owned four Jaguars in the last 8 years and also knows someone that is on their second Range Rover, I can say without a doubt that their vehicles are reliable. Oil changes and tires is all I have dealt with and when you sit in one of these Range Rovers you can see and feel the difference in build quality. This model is a bit over the top but there are people out there looking for stuff like this, and if you can afford it, why not. Been a car guy all my life and while Jag had their problems years ago, I have not had any issues with newer models. Our friend with the Rover regularly takes it off-road when he is hiking in the mountains and skiing in the winter. How cool is it when you can go four-wheeling and be comfortable? Very :)

Knowing me, I would put that table to the test to see just how far I could go with retracting it without pushing it back where it belongs first. I'm sure they have sensors that prevent damaging anything and it probably wont retract if the table is pulled towards the seats, but I'm willing to bet it will drop with the edges flipped out still and just flip them back to closed with force once it reaches the bottom... Also brings another point, I guarantee a bunch of these tables will be stuck up in the future because a sensor will commonly fail preventing retraction and the parts will no longer be available.

This thing costs ½ the price of median income home ownership in the US. Someone that spends that type of money on an SUV probably has the funds and the desire to ensure a failed table sensor gets replaced. Rover isn't going to leave that's person high and dry.

As a range rover owner, my one gripe is the multiple actions/buttons you need to press to access certain functions. I love the car, how it drive, the comfort especially on the open road or off road, but something like pressing the camera button which you would assume you display your cameras, but instead it takes you to a screen with a two buttons to turn on the cameras view or access settings. Why not just open the cameras with a button for settings from there?

Needless removal of buttons should be considered the antithesis to luxury. I don't wanna navigate thru a screen for every tiny thing. Even if it's right on the main screen i still have to actually look where I'm pressing which is more work than just pressing a button.

I have the 2024 RR 400 mhev. U.K. In my opinion the only minus Factor, ( and it's a big one.) It's like driving a wheeled laptop. Whilst fiddling with the touch screens, eyes are off the road, The trucks are huge nowadays, I don't fancy slamming into the back of one!! Nuff said? Otherwise even @ the price of a small house, the car is brilliant. As they have always been.

Last June Doug gave an Escalade V a score of 66, for a $150,000 luxury SUV. Now this RR gets 64 for a quarter of a million. And the Escalade is not even on the chart here but another RR, a top of the line Velar, appears with a 66 score. The Escalade has 682hp vs 525 here, 227" vs 207" here, and almost $100,000 price difference :D

Driver assist tech is one of those thing I wonder about - imagine the sensor going bad and you're doing 70 mph around a curve and it decides to slam on the brakes because it senses a collision

The two tone color, the features, the leather everywhere, use of nice metals, big engine, luxury draped in every aspect of the car. They definitely did not skimp on build quality as the entire thing is just perfect. The real problem is the longevity of these advancements. We know all these luxuries will break

I love how people have “break down jokes on the tech” yet every new high end vehicle has plenty of electronics and Bmw has issues, Mercedes, Audi, they come with a 4 year 50k warranty, u want no tech and super reliable, get a Camry or a base versa, just be aware of the cvt trans :)

I love this. As for reliability, my Discovery 3 is now 14 years old and I've just had to replace the electronic handbrake module (standard on loads of cars) and the air compressor (£198). Apart from that it's been maintenance stuff. Everything still works. And yes this goes off road on the farm.

Amazing as always Doug! In my opinion, this Range Rover, is far more luxurious than a Rolls Royce Cullinan. It is sooooo high tech. I'm coming from a Tech background and, JLR really went hard with the UX design. Also, for all those commenters saying that it is unreliable, if you are rich enough to buy this Range Rover, fixing it is a trivial matter which will be handled by your chauffeur. If you are here commenting that it will break down, you don't own one, and you have little to no chance of ever buying one.

A friend of mine had a 2021 Range Rover 3-yr lease. He dismissed the reliability issues due to the warranty and lease length. He estimated he spent 38 hours at the dealership (not including travel time) over that span.
