My brother and I lost our parents at a young age. I was placed in a girls home, he went to a boys detention center. Once released he turned to the streets and was murdered four years ago. I really wish someone like you would’ve taken us in, I truly believe I’ll still have my brother. Thank you for welcoming the brother and sister into your home. You’re Angel on Earth!! God bless💜

Food should never be seen as a comfort measure especially for those with weight issues. Emotional regulation shouldn’t come from food. That’s been promoted in our society and look what it’s done to us. Sugar is poison and so is white flour as it’s affects one’s mental health as well as their physical health.

More than that, especially if you don’t know what the environment or food situation was like wherever they were last it’s a good way to hopefully make a kiddo feel like they’re in a safe environment. They know there’s plenty of food to go around and that there’s special food for them too

It's a bit weird to point out, but the fact you just casually mentioned one of the kids being autistic and that you had to stock up on food he likes was just so sweet. As an autistic person I'm so used to seeing "autism mum/mom's" using their autistic children as essentially an accessory and something that makes them a good person just because they have an autistic child. It's refreshing! Plus, actually stocking up on food your child has started eating a lot? That's like he best thing ever? I have a few foods like that and as a teenager I get relatively upset when I have none and as a child it was so much harder for me so the fact you're doing that is so amazing. You're an amazing example of what a parent should be doing. A really long comment about an unnecessary thing and honestly something that should be common sense, but idk it just made me happy.
@MultiKswift
@MultiKswift 2 жыл бұрын
Gastroparesis makes it hard for kids to eat. (It frequently means rarely hungry, early fullness, and nausea when eating). So while autism can cause extreme pickiness, I think probably the gastroparesis has more of an impact on his health (gastroparesis pickiness is probably even worse than autism pickiness).

As a Guardian ad Litem in the court system, foster parents are truly my hero’s. Thank you for all you do, for providing kids with safe and loving homes, and making them all feel they are accepted and belong, especially those with special needs. The numbers of kids in care have doubled since Covid started, and kids are waiting to be adopted into forever homes. Thank you for bringing this to light and encouraging families to take the plunge, get training as foster parents through local agencies (DSS, Children’s Home Society, 7 Homes, etc.), and open their homes to foster children for short or long term placements, emergency placements, or as pre-adoptive homes. One caring adult can change the trajectory of a child’s life (powerful thought!) and be instrumental in helping a child overcome the trauma they have lived through. Thank you, Alicia and Josh, for bringing such joy to the lives of foster children, who also deserve a chance to be a part of a happy family. You guys are amazing.

Acknowledging and accepting that certain things can become out of our control and learning to adapt to new circumstances is demonstrated so well in this video! I'm sure you've gone through many ups and downs in terms of trying to really hone down your skills to stay organized and on top of whatever task you're tackling within a day, let alone a week or month. I admire how loving, caring, and attentive you are. What do you do for self-care? And how do you think you've been doing over the years in terms of combating burnouts or the potential of a burnout?

I'm impressed with Wegmans selection of bulk items. The paper products and some of the food being in HUGE quantity packs. We don't have Wegmans near us, I'm not sure what grocery store it would be comparable to. But seem like only WalMart and Meijers have huge packs of stuff. Smaller grocery stores seem like they cater to small families and old couples buying small amounts.

Lol I have one little tip for you. But I'm pretty sure you guys always use all your pasta up. When I was young and we had left over ovo macaroni my mom would heat up A Pan on the stove with a little oil. Pour the cooked elbow macaroni in the Pan and fry it when it gets nice and golden Brown on each side you take it out put it on a paper towel lined platowel lined plate to soak up any extra oil add a little salt on top and it's and it is so good and so easy to do. You could eat it just by itself or add a hot dog or Mac and cheese with it. I have to admit I still like it till this day one of my favorites

Love watching you go shopping. I love to food shop my self. And the groceries look so good. Instead of windex try to mix a batch up your self for pennies, and it takes literally seconds. Put in spritzer bottle every thing in thirds. You need ammonia, rubbing achol, water and a squirt of dish soap. The amonia,rubbing achol you can get in the dollar tree. Rubbing achol can come in plain or wintergreen. The ammonia in plain or lemon. For the soap part love dr. Bronner peppermint. Go to home depo and you get a professional grade spritzer. Zep brand are durable,never break. And it will kill any germs. And I find it works well to freshen up the furniture like febreze. Only the homemade is lung friendly and does not contribute to indoor pollution. 🤩

i think it’s incredible that not only can you afford all these groceries but you can also afford all the convenience foods like boil in bag rice, prepackaged individual snacks, etc. and then to not shop bulk for things like dressing or ketchup! it’s obviously up to you but i can’t stop thinking about how much you could save if you bulk shopped!

I'm torn. I'm so glad there are people with hearts like the Doughertys, who foster to adopt, and provide loving, stable homes, but I'm also cringing at the amount of landfill generated by so much single use, single serve packaging on every shop. :(

Yeah, I watched again! I’m addicted. I do have 2 questions that my assumption will be that everyone is wondering and few might ask. I’m not attempting to be rude--just wondering since your life is so public--which is refreshing! 1) I’m getting your husband works and you have an You Tube income, and your house seems not to be a huge mansion, but how in the world do you manage this all-financially? I know there are foster care payments, but I’m thinking you two have adopted all these kids (except the new sibling group) so I’m guessing those payments have stopped. And I’m not putting you down, but it seems to me that the dreaded food budget isn’t of much concern--pop tarts; small containers of fruit; individual snack things for lunch, etc. 2-With your freezers and stock piled canned goods, etc, why would you need to buy so much for each week? Wouldn’t you have lots of the items in the freezer? I really DO salute you and your organizational skills; your round the world tour on Monday nights; etc. I know, first hand, about…but first, coffee. My kids are gone and I have 9 grandkids and am a retired SPED teacher--I’m single and enjoying life. I’m worried about grocery prices like everyone else. What is your trick? If food stamps are part of the solution, that’s ok too. Carry on and continue to inspire!
