The larger Severn class (and possibly the Trent class) boats always lie afloat as they are too big to be housed in a boathouse. The launch system and boat type that is used depends on the coastline of a particular area.

The RNLI is the UKs #1 facilitator of illegal immigration.

Not really. The RNLI is duty bound to save those in danger and it is the responsibility of governments to solve the issue of migrant trafficking. There have been many instances of migrants perishing as they cross the channel and the priority of the RNLI is always preservation of life.
