Thanks Doug for sharing your skill and talent . Just a note ,my mom was crafty person ,she carved a jackolanter on one side and a pumpkin on the other ,that way she had decorations for both fall and Halloween. Again thanks so much for your talents👍😇🇺🇸

These are so folksy, I love it. These folk art decorations and gifts are fun to carve and look great. Clean, simple and crafty. I actually like the block that has different faces, I’d just do that in shades of oil or stain, would look awesome.

Thanks very much for offering 'basic' tutorials. I have just begun carving and these are very helpful for the beginner. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to replicate what a master like you can produce. Doing these gives a lot of satisfaction to the beginner.

Doug, you’ve done it again. I made some pumpkins and ghosts for the kids and it’s been a massive hit. The older one loves painting with me and the little one has been playing with a ghost all morning. Thank you!

I watch ALL your videos as you are easy for me to understand and learn.....Years ago I saw a little mouse that was on top of a door frame and he was sitting looking over the edge and his tail was just a lil piece of leather strip.....Would you please try to carve one for a video to follow along.....I am 65 year old Grandma that my passion was to someday carve and I just started a couple weeks ago.....Thank you kindly Doug for your time spent with us all.....

Thanks, as always, Doug. I know these videos take a long time to make - time before the camera rolls, while it is rolling, and after, so thank you. We’ve all had a few tough years and you are a solid reminder that the world is full of good people putting good into the world. But those gosh darn books and these pumpkins…man, what a bundle of fun. Finally, I appreciated your bit on the podcast about coming full circle…three cheers for simplicity!

P.s. Dont stop ant keep going my teacher !!!

Tip: from an old fella with dodgy hands. Whilst using a knife is still fine, getting rid of the raw finish on the end grains of say a 2 x 2" block really gives me a lot of grief, even if the knife is super sharp. So not to be put off i tried a flat gouge instead...voila ! Why i didn't think of this before I have no idea. Anyway a wide #3 does the trick and its not a bad finish either. Just a thought....happy carvings folks 😄
