People keep complaining about feminist ads everywhere. Maybe if there was less sexism around, there wouldn't be the need to advocate feminism so much

+Murat Öner Well there are plenty of men on KZbin, who act as if these commercials/ videos are an affront to them and a way to keep them down.They always whine and gripe about how oppressed they are and how women just don't know. I am glad that you are not another one of those self pitying fools. This by the by was the opposite of oh pity me it was more of an I don't give a F*&^ what society projects on to me. No one one this video was asking for pity. Personally When ever I walk into the cage at the gym with my little silver bag and whip out the black boxing gloves (as an over weight female) I get plenty of strange looks. Personally I like bucking the stereotype and just kicked the crap out of the bag. ;) When people "play the victim" male or female I simply try to ignore, because there is no arguing. If it truly worthy of the word victim, then that is a different story.

I am once again reminded to never go to the comments. There are idiots down there who still think feminsim is a bad thing and men should be able to tell women what to do with their bodies.

No one thinks feminism is a bad thing. There is absolutely nothing wrong with fighting for equality in the correct arena. People just take issue with how 3rd wave feminism has taken hold of the feminist movement. The bad apples tend to outweigh peoples opinions on the whole group.
@pacificwhitesideddolphin6792
@pacificwhitesideddolphin6792 7 жыл бұрын
Couch Guy Yn I agree with your comment for the most part, but it's not exactly true - there are plenty of people who say feminism is a bad thing, who think that men and women are not equal, or that they're different in nature. Luckily, to the best of my knowledge, those people are for the most part in the minority - but that's not to say they don't exist.
@AAJillSandwich
@AAJillSandwich 7 жыл бұрын
Why because these women vote for men who pass legislation on what they can or cannot do with there bodies? Because male doctors advice women not to live lifestyles that will damage there bodies? Because men in general just advocate there right to freedom of speech? Men can say whatever they want about women's bodies women do the same thing towards men. People don't like feminism because it's become a breeding ground for male hatred and general stupidity and anti human rights mentalities. Feminism is awful.
@CouchGuy19
@CouchGuy19 7 жыл бұрын
Hourglass Dolphin I can agree that there will always be people who are just completely against something, so it would be no surprise if someone was against equality. My point was that a majority of the people that dislike feminism don't dislike it because they think women shouldn't be equal. Those people are usually all for gender equality. Their issue, as well as mine, isn't with feminism itself, but rather what it has become. The terms "feminazi" and "3rd wave feminism" started in the early 1990's and that is when feminism started going down hill. Now days people look at the cause and only see the bad apples who make videos or speeches saying "kill all white cis gender males" while drinking from their coffee cups that say "male tears" on the side. The focus for a lot of people has moved away from gender equality and has turned into female superiority.

Well, I think it has to do more with the fact that women are criticized on their appearances much more often than men.
@pacificwhitesideddolphin6792
@pacificwhitesideddolphin6792 8 жыл бұрын
+Black Loops Seriously? How so? Well, if you haven't realized by now that women are pressured into being beautiful more then men, then you won't anytime soon. And this does mean a whole lot if you care about their feelings. Obviously, nobody is forced to answer to criticism. Nobody is forced into changing their looks. To add to that: nobody is forced to be in a certain religion, nobody is forced to get an education, nobody is forced to be healthy, nobody is forced to get married, nobody is forced to have children, nobody is forced to be kind, nobody is forced to talk, nobody is forced to act in any way that might be considered normal - they're socially pressured into it. And in some ways, that's even worse than forcing them to do anything. So please try to gain a broader perspective, for in the end you don't know what they've been through. Note: I'm sorry if this came off as a little mean - I need to follow my own words in being kinder, and I don't mean to hurt your feelings in any way, I'm sure you're a great person.

This is either the first time, or second, that I've actually ever clicked on an ad that was shown as mandatory before the video I was waiting to see. Just goes to show this is a great video/ad and I really love the message about being and truly feeling comfortable as you are, a woman, especially in this day and age. Because if not now, then when? Right? Totally right. Good women are empowering, as are good men, we just need to bring it to the forefront a little more often sometimes. To remind all of us. Nice ad.

I'm a male and before anyone starts. I'm just saying my opinion, anyway these Dove videos are pretty. When it's a new Dove ad I don't skip it. and yes feminist is annoying but sometimes just deal with it. no need to cry about it

Dove sells hair care, skin care, and body lotions too which could all fall under the beauty line I guess. And I think they're also showing how dove products cater to different types of people and promotes body positivity vs. other brands that appear to be intended for the "ideal woman".

This is not intended to sell you their product. The purpose of this ad was to promote that movement.

The company that owns Dove owns Axe too. Axe did a commercial about different types of guys and not falling into preconceived notions of what others think masculinity is.

You have to remember that this is a commercial for women's soap. Axe has a commercial similar to this, but since the product is targeted to men, the commercial features men.

People don't care if a few women can fight. You guys act like you're super hero's. What have women accomplished in this world that's of worth? Their riding on the backs of men who created the modern world and now they want to step out and be independent. Why weren't women try to be equal hundreds of years ago before modern conveniences? The future is woman? Take a look at Merkel in Germany to see what a future is with a woman leading the way.

My #mybeautymysay story is definitely related to fashion. (And weirdness) Everyone always says you should wear something different, why do you dress so weird? My beauty is my weirdness. And I don't care what anyone thinks about it. I can make my own decisions, so people don't have to make them for me. That's #mybeautymysay

Canned Bread my thoughts in a nutshell
@cynthiaking5790
@cynthiaking5790 8 жыл бұрын
Canned Bread I actually fell on this video because I like Dove's engagement video - I found that one beautiful, sweet, and empowering. Nothing felt stuffed down my throat in that one. And I have some issues with feminism's body positivity and self love movements and such. To be frank, I'm not the best at explaining it (Lauren Southern and Steven Crowder are much better versed at explaining things like this, I believe you should check them out) I guess my main issue is you can't make someone accept you. Either they do or they do not. You cannot make anyone feel anything. True, no one should treat you wrong based upon how you look, but you cannot make someone ELSE change their preferences just to suit your needs. You don't need the approval of others to love yourself. In fact, this video explains my point of view a bit better: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f36lk2eJqa9neLs ((Best part is 2:31 ))

“An ad that pretends to be art is -- at absolute best -- like somebody who smiles warmly at you only because he wants something from you. This is dishonest, but what's sinister is the cumulative effect that such dishonesty has on us: since it offers a perfect facsimile or simulacrum of goodwill without goodwill's real spirit, it messes with our heads and eventually starts upping our defenses even in cases of genuine smiles and real art and true goodwill. It makes us feel confused and lonely and impotent and angry and scared. It causes despair.” ― David Foster Wallace
