Hey Tim, looking good around there. Really like the way those logs are stacking so straight and you leveled them perfectly.👍👍. Zippy likes inspecting the job site !. I don’t get on Facebook or instagram either one, don’t like to put my business on there and won’t tolerate the smart mouths that have to try and show off. So I do like your channel and what you’re doing and the way you share on here. Keep up the good work and videos and thanks for sharing with us. Fred.

Good morning Tim and happy Easter! I am amazed that you didn't need the tractor to set the upper timbers. Thought for sure the trailing tail was going to fall when you started to rest them on the wall. Great job as usual and thanks for sharing.

In Timber Framers Workshop by Steve Chappell I found the following: "Knots in tension are affected more than those in compression, so all edge knots or localized knot clusters oriented close to or near an edge, should be positioned to be on the compression side of the timber. In a horizontal timber this would be the top face." The cabin is coming along great sir, keep the videos coming.

Great day for a KZbin Video! Looking really nice, nice timbers and very nice. Will be curious to see your thoughts on chinking. I am still thinking through what I want to use. Great points about the varying of the logs not being a factor as you build the wall. Another benefit of not using full scribe style. Really nice, keep it up.

Nice to see wide open country again. Miss the meadow lark singing. You know what the lyrics are in their song? Growing up on the prairies my mother told me this and never forgot it. So I always like to share. When you are out building just listen to the meadow lark and apply these lyrics. " Your not as smart as you think you are". Noticed you put a round dowel through the log haven't sèn that before, just wondering why. Thanks.
@GreatPlainsCraftsman3 жыл бұрын
The round dowel is to keep the logs from twisting as they dry

@@GreatPlainsCraftsman Tim, over here in Australia, the Lucas Mill is king. Just about every farm or property has one. They were designed to cut through tough ozzie spotted gum, ironbark and other hardwoods, and if you're using it for cutting softwoods, it's like a hot knife through butter. They are expandable lengthwise, and it is very easy to sharpen the saw blade with the sharpening kit. They are worth checking out.

Hello Stu, they are for bowing and twisting. These timbers are very green and they will try! Ideally you would build with cured logs, but I don't have that kind of time to wait

Maybe not Paul but any smaller and they may not look correct. Aesthetics is important, and for logs they are not that big.
