@@DowdenProductionAcademy I’ve been watching your videos for the last few months now and they really helped me a lot. I would love to see more mixing videos, perhaps different techniques or what to look out for, what not to do, etc. I would also love to see a video on how to make progressive house track like shingo nakamura 😁

Man, I'm speechless. This was some Beethoven level shit (making music while being deaf). The whole idea sounded silly first (no pun intended), but then I realized this was the best simulation of a beginner. See, I am deaf compared to your experience so all these extra information and rules of thumb can help land a noob at least in the ballpark. One of the best mixing tutorials ever. Wow, just wow!!

I'm a big fan of using various visual analysers for getting the volume of high end frequencies right, because I'm old and my ears are fucked when it comes to stuff above 10-12kHz, but I hadn't ever considered trying to balance the low end and mix without actually listening to it. I'm quite amazed at how well you got things to go together just from visual feedback alone. I guess that years of experience help you to translate the numbers and graphs on screen into how it will sound.

I do like mixing to a degree, I am working on improving that skill set currently. Enjoyed the video, a fun thing to see and a good display of how visual tools really are helpful rather than just using your ears.

HI Dowden, great video really love it. Beside the fun aproach you took it is just one of the best mixdown workflows I have ever seen on youtube. One question about the headroom and sending the files for the mastering. Are you rendering those with +6db on, or you move it to 0 (I suppose)? Thx for the confirmation!
@DowdenProductionAcademy9 ай бұрын
Thanks so much! Definitely bringing it back down to 0 :)

great video! How do you map the span and see two channels at the same time with different colors, so you can compare?
@DowdenProductionAcademy8 ай бұрын
Thanks! It's a bit of a process but here it goes: You need VST2 version of Span (I believe it's 2, 3 doesn't allow for sidechain) 1. Click Sidechain on Span in the device menu (not the VST itself but the device window where FX is at the bottom of the screen 2. Click on the channel you want as the second waveform as your sidechain signal 3. Go into SPAN and click 'routing' and change channel IN3 from --- to 3. This will activate the sidechain signal 4. Go back to main screen of SPAN and click 'Underlay' and click the 2nd one. It should work!

In the Loudness & Balance Test, where can you see that you're at -6db of headroom? @24:15
@DowdenProductionAcademy9 ай бұрын
It's to check the overall loudness and balance of frequencies in the 2 spectrums
