My man in the purple, I’ve never seen anyone feel the music as he did. Amazing.

This song and tomorrow's song Ten Years Gone are my two favorites on the album. Growing up with a steady diet of classic rock radio I heard Ten Years Gone on the radio a few times, but never Down by the Seaside which is a shame but also a good solid reason to seek out the deep tracks.

You really need to pay attention to the guitar overdubs. Jimmy has some great licks buried in the mix. Freaking love this song to death. And tomorrow we'll get the reaction to one of the best examples of Jimmy's dream of creating music that was "Light & Shade". At least in my opinion it's the best example since Babe I'm Gonna Leave You.

Love this song so much! Okay I have to say it, since going through this journey listening to each album with you guys I've discovered that though I have SO many favourite songs I couldn't pick a best album before but now...yes hands down this is my fav album of which I'm lucky enough to have a pristine condition vinyl copy I bought new in 1982.

TYG, a beautiful song to play on guitar! The chords, inversions, overdubs and progression is about the best I've ever listened to. I believe it's about Robert's long lost love who is now 10-years gone.

The guitar riff and solo, during the interlude, are one of Page’s best and most overlooked moments in Led Zeppelin’s discography. Are you guys ever going to react to Jeff Buckley? Jimmy Page and Robert Plant are massive fans of his. Page said that Jeff was “the greatest singer to appear in two decades (between the ‘70s and ‘90s), and Robert said that Jeff that was a “much greater singer” than him. Brad Pitt also said this about Jeff: “He’s Page and Plant in one, on a technical level; it’s mind-blowing.” *Brad Pitt & Jimmy Page on Jeff Buckley:* kzbin.info/www/bejne/hp_HhJSfqa51js0&t *Jimmy Page About Jeff Buckley:* kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmfUXmp9hJWUl9k *Robert Plant on Jeff Buckley:* kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGHOhn5qftSKp7M "On this day in 1996, I saw Jeff Buckley perform in Melbourne. Jeff Buckley was something of an ethereal spirit: a musical magician whose album 'Grace' showcased a unique talent. His name was on the lips of all musos from the release of that album and for the next two years. I had heard him sing a couple of songs at a distance on the Other Stage at Glastonbury, where Page and Plant were headlining: you could feel him, it was extraordinary. I had listened intently to 'Grace' whilst I was on tour and made a point to see him at the Palais Theatre in Melbourne on this day in 1996." - Jimmy Page, from his official Instagram account: instagram.com/p/B9KPsOijhu1/ I would recommend beginning with the following: *Jeff Buckley - Grace (BBC Late Show).*

I always thought Jimmy Page, despite being known as one of the greatest rock guitarists, had a bit of Nashville in him too. This song, the little riffs, slide guitar, etc, is like “Led Zeppelin country”. And I’m an obsessed LZ fan.

Tremelo is the word 😊 Vibrato is ranging just above and below a target note whereas tremelo is volume shifting not pitch shifting

This song, indeed is a nod to Neil Young who had a song called "Down By The River" at the time. It was originally written around the same time as LZ IV however it didn't make the cut until Physical Graffiti. According to Robert, the other three weren't fans of the song, JPJ especially. To be honest, it is my least favorite song of theirs - which isn't surprising since I think Neil Young is kinda meh. In my opinion, if the entire song had kept to the same vein as the middle break, I think it would have been far more interesting musically.
