Additionally its a skill they actually teach in choir, its really easy to sound messy if you dont all annunciate like CRAZY. Zoom in on anyone singing choir ever and you can see how much they have to put into making the individual sounds needed to construct the word, on top of also being on time all together

@@patrickhamilton6677 There are a number of factors - the lyrical group is small (arrangement) at the start, as it grows in number it gets more messy as is obvious at 1:10 for example.

As an ex choir kid this hit hard. The way they're laid out means there's no way they can see the director. They know the song so well and know each other and their own sound well enough to fly solo like this. It's the most amazing feeling to do and creates the most amazing sound. True talent, skill, and grace.

I was in a treble choir in high school and some of my best memories were singing a capella in public places like this with great acoustics. It's like a flash mob. People stop in their tracks to watch. If you sing perfectly in tune you set off overtones, notes that resound off the walls and echo back at you. It's one of the best experiences of my life, connecting through mysic that way. Thanks for the video. It brought me down memory lane!

I remember this performance like it was yesterday. I was on the second to the top floor. A little ways into the song, this woman left her room and joined in. She knew the part in everything. After we had finished, she told me and my roommates about how she had sang this song before. I had assumed it was something she had sang in church maybe a year or so ago, but it turns out the last time she had sang this was when she sang in an Allstate choir in New York, about 10 years ago. That really stuck with me. Her story really showed me how music stays with you. No matter where you are or however long it’s been, when a piece of music means a lot to you, it becomes engraved into your mind, and so do the memories that go along with it.

You and me both... I was part of the Institute choir under Marshall McDonald for several concerts on temple square. We did his arrangement of Hark Listen to the Trumpeters in the Assembly Hall, Tabernacle, and Joseph Smith Memorial building. I will *never* forget the harmonics floating over the men in the beginning. I knew in my head it was simply the acoustics, but my heart swore the angels sang with us whenever we were in those venues. My only regret is we never got any recordings of any of our performances.

I have always lived with music anhedonia (age 47). I'm incapable of enjoying or having any type of emotional reactions to music. My brain just hears music as another noise. I've never understood how people can "feel" music, until I watched this video. Something about this choir, singing this song, in this location, gave me an emotional response for the first time ever in my life. I got goosebumps at 1:09, and even had a few tears a few moments later. That was amazing. Because of this reaction, I quickly searched for other versions of this song and ended up with my typical response. I hear it, but I don't feel it. I even watched other videos of this choir performing different songs and had no reactions of any kind. Something about this specific performance is able to bring emotion out from within me when no other music before, or since, has managed to do so. I am utterly stunned. Thank you so much for this.

There is beautiful music being sang by amazing voices. There is you another silhouette among the many. Standing there in absolutely awe as you begin to feel a sense comfort and safety that you have never felt before. You feel as if you could do anything you wanted to do, but whenever you want to do it. Because you're not being held to any type of standard or expectation. Or having to get things done in any type of time frame because time doesn't exist. Its a freeing feeling that reminds you of being a kid again.

Jesus loves you. You may have accomplished less than you hoped for in this life, but the only real thing that matters is if your soul will make it to heaven or be damned to hell. You have a second life waiting and it’s beautiful beyond your wildest dreams, but in order to be worthy of it you must repent of your sin and accept the free gift of salvation from Jesus. He loves you so.

Absolutely. We did this with my college marching band, where one of the hazing/initiation things was all of the upperclassmen on the upper levels of the main historic building on campus, and the freshman are walked in to the lower level, told to start singing the band's song, and then halfway through everyone joins in. My senior year was the first time we did this, but it was universally regarded as magical by everyone involved, freshman all the way up to seniors. The singing wasn't as great as this, but the sense of unity and shared beauty of being together, doing the same thing in a beautiful space, it doesn't get much better than that.

Moments like these are the true reason people love singing in a choir. The pure beauty of so many voices singing together in harmony is overwhelming. My choir once went to London and we had many performances. One of them was in a museum. It was without any promotion beforehand and a spontaneous audience. But it was the most wholesome and beautiful experience I ever had in a Choir in almost 15 Years. The acoustics were great, our sound levitated in this huge hall an people stopped to listen. We were spread out in this Hall forming a circle, singing to each other. It was magical. And in this moment a few tears went down, because I knew how special this moment was.
