The D chord you are playing correctly is D7 also I think the G should be Gmaj7 for the double strum, which fits with the song finale which has Paul playing a Gmaj7 arpeggio. G seems to work well however.

Ive just started learning it, and throw in the bass line at the start of the song. Im doing it all on acoustic though. Just playing the Am, D, G at the top. And alot of muting. Think the trick is to not over strum and keep it simple on the verses. Chorus you can let rip a bit. Good lesson though.

Brilliant work, Steve! I've been looking for a decent tutorial to learn this song for a while, and it seems I've finally found one!

Brilliant Steve ... think I'll be going for the double strike on the chorus rather than the 5 card shuffle ...great tutorial -cheers

Haha yes thats wise don't blame you......... it is a bit of a quick shuffle!!!

Pretty sure he played it mostly open chords, that's the jagged ringing vibe he gets from the Ricky. Am-Dsus2 and Gmaj7 (minus the A at 2nd fret) for opening riff

Hiya Steve - noticed you're using a BOSS GT10. I have this - do you know which effect Paul Weller is using for this song?

Fuckin GREAT!!!

I don't think Weller plays a straight G barre chord on verse bit.

This was a good tutorial. I liked your assumption that people know chords and how to play. The tutorials where half the video is explaining beginner fingering while I sit like a dummy waiting for the real lesson. Do you take requests? Man in a Corner Shop

Hey you've already done it. should have looked at your page before making my request

How come you use a pick on curtain songs?
@StevoGuitar4 жыл бұрын
I mostly just use finger nails but with for the quick strum i find that the nails can catch strings too hard. The pick being much less likely to catch and therefore easier......for me anyway!!!!!

It's an easy song to play, any person who knows a few open chords and a bar chords can easily learn this song. In some places you are using the wrong chords.
