As someone with family into all that new age spirituality stuff, this game is hilarious??? Hitting people with burning sage sticks is the funniest thing I have ever seen, really hits in a 'out-of-touch middle aged hippies have to fight monsters now, oops' kind of way. I love it.

I'm really loving this game. The way the incorporated all the New Agey lore into the items, the combat mechanics and the monsters is pretty cool. They even have essential oils lmaooo I love it. I also like that Jess is clearly not an experienced fighter. She falls when she dodges, she has no crazy elaborate moves... that's fun. Please do play more, Gab.

I kind of would like to see a progression in her dodging, Since actual combat and your life being at stake is supposed to be a super motivator that makes people improve rapidly. But yeah totally agree. As I said in another comment "The Chant: The only time when wanting essential oils isn't a sign of stupidity."

I really like the meditating mechanic. If you think about it, characters in games rarely take a moment to catch their breath and calm their mind after stressful situation, but seem to have 24/7 adrenaline supply.

@@pb542 in the last few Assassins Creed games you can too. In the most recent one Valhalla you can do meditate like in the Witcher 3 game but, if you go to a sacred place you meditate and restore your power. I do really enjoy when the mechanics are used in a game where the character is faced with difficult situations

For those who don't know, you can just eat more of the plants to gain the extra xp. When you eat them you get xp for each the categories, so you don't actually need to fight to reach the lvl requirements to lvl up.

Alright, 10 minutes in and gonna make some lore guesses. I think Tyler is the baby of the woman who dove off the cliff at the start, Babs. When she ran off back then, the cultists were turned into the monsters we see, the Rams, Bulls, etc, and the Gloom let loose partway. Tyler, he either is in denial, or doesn't believe in all of it. He just teaches this stuff as a spiritual retreat as a scam, or so he thinks. And now, with everything going off, he has to face the option his mom was right, and he doesn't want to.

I'm curious if there were Animal skull monsters from the very beginning and the Father just went with it for his own cult (maybe the masks were a ritual requirement?), or if they were something he accidentally created trying to figure out the Gloom. Honestly, that's what scares me the most so far-what has the Father done to find out all that he has. The animal skull note was pretty confident and detailed, to the point where it sounds like he could make a specific type on purpose. That takes...a lot of testing.

Completely agree all signs suggest the first animal mask creatures were the miners who found the crystals, there's more, the reason the colors talk to the MC about each of their traumas is because the ceremony they were performing that Kim messed up was actually working, those flower enemies were absorbing their negative feelings just like he was saying it would from his mother's teachings to him. So I think this will ultimately make him feel powerful and will probably make him either the last boss or the person who releases the last boss. (I still haven't watched the end) Also I think the reason each character is going crazy, well Kim was possessed, but they are basically being inundated with their negative emotions that they were siphoning off and the MC has done it the least. Imagine feeling every single part of your trauma all at once.

This game is so interesting and the concepts are pretty original. I love how you fight with sage, crystals, and essential oils. The stuff thats usually considered mumbo jumbo now is your only defense against the very real monsters running around the island. I feel really bad for everyone though, they came to the island to heal and now they have to deal with demons.

I think it's funny that they give a wink to the outside agitator myth with the mine letters, while the mine operator thinks people grow mad for the wrong reasons he doesn't even know that there is an actual agitator who's conceeding that they can't organise any workers as they're already driven mad by the gems.

I actually had an idea for a horror game about a year ago where you have to manage your anxiety. For example, I have a panic disorder which I curb by knitting, so the idea was that the player could knit in a safe place (empty room or hiding place) to reduce anxiety. The more anxiety you have, the harder the character is to control.

First episode was really weird and it left me feeling confused as to whether or not I would enjoy it. There are some weak points in the story-telling aspect (awkward sentences/stiff dialogue, character information reveals etc) but otherwise the concept is really, really intriguing. And the monster designs are really neat! I love the idea of human entities wearing animal skulls depicting certain themes/emotions. - I wonder if these were ex cult memebers? And of course, this game is quite gorgeous. That shot of the mountains peeking up from the rooftop of that shack?? Holy cow what a VIEW! And that scene of the circle and the shroom taking effect was sooo well done. The voices changing pitch and the flower behind Tyler? was it? really showed the developer's potential in cinematography :) And the overall game mechanics look unique and fun and catchy. Definitely continuing to watch this!

Someone may have already mentioned this but that fight towards the end makes me wonder if they got some inspiration from the fight sequences in Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice! The slow-mo deaths when you get the final hit, the creature designs, the way the monsters move sideways sometimes while waiting to make their moves, and even when Jess uses her powers that make them move slower, is very similar to when you can have Senua "focus" and you're able to do combos on multiple monsters. Whether they did or not, I rly like the fighting mechanics!

As the ps5 is still a unicorn for me, even more a unicorn I can no longer afford even if it would grace me with it's presence, and I'm not on the market for an xbox or pc because I'm a physical gamer I have to pass on this game. If it had released on ps4 I would have given it a go for sure. I used to hate horror games but this channel made me realise not all horror is the same and I do in fact enjoy some types. I'll just enjoy this game trough you Gab. Same with plague tale requiem. The fact you play such relaxing games like ooblets alongside them just makes me adore this channel so much.
