Made one just to try it out. It's surprisingly comfortable when used as a seat. Definitely a valuable addition to anyone's woodsy knowledge and a great camp project to help smooth it. Thanks for sharing!

I think the professor made one of those on Gilligans island for a raft.LOL That is an awesome tip, I also see a way to make a bridge over a small ditch (scale it up). I can see making a sturdy longer term type of shelter using this technique (walls, roof, lean to). You really got me thinking with this video. Fantastic!!!!

Talk about jogging the grey cells! It was 50+ years ago when I last used this idea. It still makes sense! My buddies thought I was nuts until they got to sit on the one I made, backside off the ground and dry. Didn't hear as much from Mom about the clothes being dirty either! Thank You for the jog and sharing!

It also can be a deadfall trap: attach a heavy rock to its top- five times heavier than the targeted animal and with nine or ten more of ‘em baited a ways outside of camp you should have no trouble passively hunting while you’re taking care of other tasks, or, hunting with a throwstick, etc.. great video as always brother thank you!

Very cool project! Couldn’t you do the same thing with one longer piece of bank line with an overhand knot on the bite end for the thumb size loop and another overhand loop toward the two loose ends to create the tie tie section?
@BLACKIETHOMAS6 жыл бұрын
that could work..once you get the idea of how this works you will find a million ways to use it...safe journeys

When using this technique for longer (6 ft or more - like a raised bed or table) items, do you suggest adding a third cross piece?
@BLACKIETHOMAS6 жыл бұрын
you can it depends on how heavy you are and how green and flex able the oles are..but you add as you need for the given job..thanks for the comment safe journeys

What is the best way to judge how long of a piece of bank line for the size you desire? Example is if you want to make a bigger platform.
@BLACKIETHOMAS4 жыл бұрын
it depends on size of the wood your using..i will often measure the given final size i want then ad 1/3..when in doubt simply lay the sticks and go ahead and wrap the cord..leave like 3 inches or so at the end to tie with..hope this helps ya safe journeys
@bentley19605 жыл бұрын
Make the middle stick longer and you have a quick ore for your boat
@neiljohnston34075 жыл бұрын
hmm, I wouldn't bother cutting a separate piece for the ties, just leave enough past the 2nd overhand knot for the ties & add the overhand knot fray stoppers to the end.

Why do you say it should be green wood?
@BLACKIETHOMAS6 жыл бұрын
stronger and flex instead of break..it can be dry as well but green is usually better
