This is a great song, indeed! I will add another band that needs a shout out. I have played several of their songs for non-metalheads to great acclaim. The only other song that reach that was "You're sure" by Rumble Militia, although "1916" by Motorhead surprise many (especially those who NEVER heard Lemmy in an interview). The Louisiana band is Acid Bath ("Kite string pops" and "Bones of baby dolls" are generally well liked by a more general public). Dax Riggs has some GREAT solo work, too.

My understanding is the actual songwriting is mainly Phil & Pepper. In any event, the deep dark heavy soulfulness, dynamic moods and changes, anti-hero inspiring harmonies so masterfully woven together makes this album not only a classic, but the perfect counterpart to Temple Of The Dog's legendary city /regional supergroup tribute offering. What a splendid 1A - 1B charged by a pack of alpha dogs who had who were inspired to step back and make more heart-felt, soulful, heavy but cathartic songs that could reach audiances well beyong even what they could have imagined. Yes, it's mature beyond it's years. So while great songwriting is crucial, even then, it's only a part of the entire equation to creating a masterwork.

Mainstream producers of big TV shows are generally out of touch with the good shit. It's the same reason why a hack like Billie Eilish is given the James Bond theme song over bands like Ulver, Radiohead

NOLA came out almost twenty years ago and this shit still rocks. NOLA by Down is one of the best records ever IMHO.

I always thought it was a sin & a shame that this song never made its way onto Sons Of Anarchy. That show and this song were made for each other!! **EDIT** Hahaha, I just noticed this song was uploaded TODAY, six years ago!

always loved this whole album. phil trying something new. got it the day it came out....still have it. long live pantera. long live down. I know they are not doing anything new right now, wishful thinking. I will just have to hear TooL for awhile.

So... I had just started summer break and my parents are both at work. Seeing as how I was alone with just the dogs, I figured "why not try singing along?". My throat fucking hurts now... How the hell does Phil do it?
