Love the movie,,,,didnt love the fact that this musical wasnt a musical. It was silence when it came to the main ppl singing..they took it out. And so what if Rita's singing was dubbed.....she was a great dancer and actress. She didnt let her beauty do all the work .

So disappointing that the sound was muted for such a long period - probably due to copyright issues. If you are going to have a channel that provides musicals, then you should arrange copyright license so that it can be seen AND HEARD!

Beautiful Rita. What a talent too, yet she never found a man who truly loved her. Go figure. According to Orson Wells, her second husband, Rita was a kind, simple, and very warm-hearted tender soul. I think she was married 4 or 5 times, and Rita has been quoted as saying all her husbands thought they were marrying "Gilda", a character she played in a movie with same title. So sad. Thank you for this film, though I do wish so much of the sound was not lost in vital parts.
@FlipDahlenburg17 күн бұрын
She didn't have to marry them, did she? Simple is right.
@andrewmiller488517 күн бұрын
@@FlipDahlenburg I don't think Orson Wells was implying in any way that Rita was stupid. When Mr Wells used the word "simple" as part of his description of Rita Hayworth, he merely meant she was uncomplicated. The word "Simple" when describing someone can mean an honest, humble, and down to earth person....And, in actuality, that WAS Rita. Rita Hayworth was a very nice and thoroughly descent human being. The same cannot be said for most of the men she married.
@brittalbach41617 күн бұрын
@@andrewmiller4885 exactly.. Simple is not necessarily a negative word. Here it is meant the opposite of stuck-up or arrogant. I feel sorry for Rita that she never found a man who truly loved her. But she was very happy about her daughter Yasmine who took good care of her. I think Rita was very intelligent due to her sensitivity and simplicity. ❤💙💜
@andrewmiller488517 күн бұрын
@@brittalbach416 Yes indeed. I agree with what you have stated here about Rita Hayworth. She truly valued the right things in life and Hollywood was not one of them. Thank you for your kindly response.

Absolutely, even that egotistical Fred Astaire couldn't believe how fast she learnt the dance steps he invented, all the while with a charming smile for him. And you can see what a good actress she is in this film. She is a delight to watch.

@@brittalbach416 *“A person or personified force who is the source of inspiration for a creative artist.”* She technically is a muse, unless the commenter means in a sense of that Rita is a triple threat: singer, dancer, actress. We have no proof that Rita could sing; I personally think Rita could sing, it’s just that her singing didn’t meet the standards of the 40s & 50s.

@@Gemini053 You have just proven that she is NOT a muse. Check your definition. Admiring someone and wanting to be admired like they are is not part of having been 'mused'. Don't confuse the two; that way madness lies.
