Euronymous said he wanted people to commit suicide listening to black metal, well Burzum actually accomplished it. Because yeah I do want kill myself now after the ambient tracks. But for real, some of Vargs music is literally designed be played while actually playing roleplaying games. hTe repetition just builds an atmosphere you can talk over while doing stuff like dungeon diving in D&D.

Varg was the foundation of introducing those memorizing melodies into the 2nd wave, developed from Bathory. You can hear that inspiration in great bands like Windir. Vargs dungeon synth is some of the best shit there is. Ironically it is similar to the music the japanese made for the Moomin Valley tv series from the 90's. Fittingly they're both pretty esoteric at this point, though one is dark and spiritual while the other is wholesome and lonely.

I guess it's fine for what it is but as far as music goes it's pretty unimaginative. It certainly isn't something that you would play to give you energy or feel like giving a shit about anything. He got to be one of two black metal artists to be on the first actual movie soundtrack ever and he chooses drip drip drip, dripdripdrip. Funny enough I know the first black metal band to be on a major Hollywood production and nobody even knows the song. It was the band "Fog" and the first major attempt at a true crime drama called "Bully" from 01 or 02. The director from the aforementioned movie was involved in some ways btw, plus one of his actors was in it.

You have to understand how magic was practiced ten and twenty thousand years ago to get the purpose of all this repitition. It's how a chant was used, so as to induce an altered state.

I love songs like tomhet, and the 25 minute song on filosofem that has a title that’s way too long. I wish Varg would make more ambient stuff like that, rather than his newer ambient albums. Something about it makes me feel nostalgia

I know a lot of people don't care for it, but I love the first two "dungeon synth" albums. But, as you said, throw it on while you're doing something for background noise, and it's not bad. I would listen to it while I would draw or paint. Solid video.

Can’t believe KZbin took the channel down. I’m actually very anti Varg, I think he’s a joke (not the music, it’s awesome), but now I can’t link people to vids he made so I can debunk his views. I don’t even remember his views on so many subjects. Free speech is for all!
@emoxvx
@emoxvx 4 жыл бұрын
I think he's just unfortunatly a sad pathetic ignorant loser, I very much oppose a lot of his views like you but I loved watching his videos, he's really interesting for being such a tool and I also like hearing different opinions, if done right. There's a website similar to KZbin where he uploads his videos.

Thomas Begen euronymous always wore venom shirts though
@dasein9980
@dasein9980 6 жыл бұрын
InputSilver9 it's somewhat complicated. Varg admitted to having Venom shirts but not because he liked Venom. I believe they were sold at Euronymous' shop. While they sold them and Euronymous may have wore them it's possible, like so, many other things, Euronymous was merely trying to be super-edgy and appeal to people outside the Movement who, oddly enough, Euronymous despised.
@dasein9980
@dasein9980 6 жыл бұрын
InputSilver9 yeah, I think you're right about that. Anyhow the only reason Varg had Venom shirts at his place of residence was because they were inventory. When the police retrieved clothes for Varg they grabbed a Venom shirt. I don't see any reason why he would lie about that.
