Downieville Classic Race Vlog -- our first XC race in YEARS! | August Road Trip Episode 3

Follow along as we race the Downieville Classic in Downieville, CA. We had an absolutely amazing time doing this race, even though this was our first XC (not Enduro) race in four years, so it was a challenge. With a 3 hr XC race the first day and a 50 min DH the second day, this is a very unique race and we LOVED it!

Awesome Guys!! I cramped on Baby Heads in last years race. I think you can die from it! I rode my motorcycle up this year to watch a little and kept an eye out for you to cheer you on. Too hard to spot someone. I'll be there next year, hope you guys make it back. Super fun race. Macky's bike my guess 38.6? Great vid!

congrats on a strong showings in downieville!! memory lane: XC is an interesting race. i used to think that all you needed was awesome cardio and decent bike skills. when i used to race, i would pass many riders on the climbs.. only to lose all the places, and then some, on the rest of the race :(

Great recap, helping me prepare mentally as a first timer doing the all mtn. Doesnt seem asvisable to overbike on this race but i too will be running one of the heavier bikes I'm guessing (probably 40+ with water bottle). What tires did you guys run?

Couple pounds low. 37! Generally it just takes time. There's nothing worse than crashing again, so just accept that you'll go a bit slower for a while until the confidence builds again. Working on correct form (cornering, body position, etc) really helps as well!

I love your content! I was wondering if you can make some good 29 inch tire recommendations for trails like bugs springs in Tucson. I always have an issue with tearing up sidewalls and want a tire thats durable but not too heavy. Thank you!

wow, seems like the bikes I ride, I'm 6'3" 260. So the bikes I get are on the heavy side. Gotta have some strong lungs to hoist a 37 pounder up those hills.
