Why did you not do the other method where you patch it by holding the centre screw in place behind the board and plastering over it from the front?
@M0ng0l0id3 жыл бұрын
That wouldn’t work if you only have access from the front.

What are those little scrapers called? They seem more flexible and smaller than the drywall knifes I've seen in the US.

The amount of times I’ve seen Plasterer’s do this they usually cut a square out around the circle, bit of 2x1 timber or similar bridging across the gap on the other side of the ceiling then a square patch of plasterboard cut to size to fill the hole, scrim tape around the edges then patch.... this way is bloody brilliant! Definitely gonna be doing this the next time I come across this myself. And please.... for the boards sake treat it to a nice coat of farrow and ball paint or a bit of their wallpaper... it’s been through hell and back in your last few videos haha! Thanks for another great tip! Marc.

That’s ok using foam on an upright board but trying that in a ceiling is near impossible as the can has to be upside down for it to work. Otherwise you just release the gas and no foam.

Can I ask why you use the diluted PVA to seal the plaster? What's the risk if you don't do this?

Diluted PVA is your watered down elmers glue.

Painting and Decorating ok thanks for getting back to me. Maybe a better question is what questions should I ask once I have a quote? Like one painter didn’t sand between coats or fill holes before taking any screw plastics out so I had to let him go. I thought this was standard stuff but does it depend on the quote what service I get?

Again thats what gyproc plasterboard patches are made for, self adhesive for covering the hole/area then flush over couple times, job done 🙌
@PaintingandDecorating6 жыл бұрын
Yes they do work.. but this leaves a better finish as flat as you can get, not raised like patches leave.

@@PaintingandDecorating Since it's been over a year now how have you found those patches to hold up on a ceiling? Any dropping or does the foam hold it firm still?

2 part filler the disc in. A small amount of masking tape to hold it while the filler drys. Sand back. Fine filler over the top (for duck sake not easifill!!!) heat gun dry. Sand. Paint. It’s repaired in 20minutes max with a painted finish.
@PaintingandDecorating2 жыл бұрын
2 part filler is completely wrong decorators do not use this for filling plaster. It is only used on wood.. do things correctly.
