I happen to own a 2022 Hummer EV Truck and a 2023 Ford Lightning Platinum, and I drive both regularly on long trips and locally. There is quite a bit of inaccurate information in this video. Charging Speed. It is not twice as fast to charge a Lighting as the Hummer. It's actually about the same speed. The reason for this is the Hummer is capable of charging at 350 KW while the Lightning is limited to only 150 Kw. If have connected the Lighting to a 350 KW charger, and it still maxes out at 150 KWH, so it is not any faster to charge the Lightning than the Hummer. DC fast chargers are plentiful when traveling on the interstate highway system. I regularly make 4-6 hour trips in both trucks and there are multiple choices from several DC fast charging companies. The standard non-member pricing for DC fast charging averages about 36 cents/KWH at the chargers I have used, but I pay $7.00/month for a membership with Electrify America, which reduces the rate to around 14 cents/KWH. To fully charge the Hummer from 0-100%, the total cost is $79.00 at 36 cents/KWH with no membership discount. Also, the home charger that came with the Hummer charges it at 17 MPH and says it charges the Lightning at 22 MPH, but the lightning will not reach the advertised range, which is addressed below. I regularly drive to a location that is 390 miles from home. I can do it in either vehicle with one 30 minute charging stop, which usually costs about $18.00. When I arrive at my destination, both trucks will have somewhere around 20-30% charge. I connect it to a Clipper Creek home charger and pay around 9 cents/KWH, so it's very inexpensive. For comparison, it takes $90.00 in gas to drive my Escalade on the same trip, while the Hummer and Lightning both cost less than $35.00 for the same drive. I always drive both of them on cruise control at 70mph on the highway, and the Hummer averages 1.5 - 1.6 Miles/KWH. The Lighting averages 1.9 Miles/KWH, so they are about the same when it comes to efficiency. The range on the lightning is advertised to be within 10 miles of the Hummer, but it is not. My Hummer was advertised to have 329 miles of range, and it will actually achieve that at 70 mph. My Lightning Platinum is supposed to have a range of 300 miles, but it will only achieve about 260 miles at 70 mph. This information was obtained by driving over 17,000 miles in the Hummer and over 7,000 miles in the Lightning.

Couple of points from an owner of the truck. It isn’t 246kWh or 212 for the SUV. That’s based off one erroneous calculation from a KZbinr over 2 years ago that everyone just keeps repeating. The 24 module has a usable capacity of ~212kWh. The 20 module in the SUV is ~176kWh. Both have a very small buffer, estimates for the 24 module are between 214-220 gross capacity and 178-183kWh gross for the SUV. And I just hit a lifetime efficiency of 2.1mi/kWh over 14k miles or about 77mpge. In short trips the dash reading is VERY deceiving because the system HEAVILY weights it at 1.5mi/kWh when you start and can take many miles, even on completely downhill terrain to move it to what it’s actually getting. And I charge at home, 20-80% (typical because no one pulls in at 0% and charges to 100) on a 48amp charger, so that would take about 13hours. The 2024’s have a 19.2 kW onboard charger so with an 80amp at home that drops to ~6ish hours. A full 0-100% charge would take a little over 11 in that situation. The 20-80% charge costs me $18 at home, for almost 300 miles of range at my efficiency (I’m also on the 22’s instead of the 18s in this video which give a ~15% efficiency boost as well, GM’s EPA range for the truck on 22s is 381 miles, 318 for the SUV on them.

Thinking of buying a 2024. How is your wind noise inside the cabin? And how is the bose speaker system quality?

@@justinsmith9104I love my omega❤❤ , all of my friends who went on the mushroom foraging trips with me they all said this is the best car ever when comparing to all my friend’s car. We went on a super bumpy road up on the mountains all the time. The wind noise was a little annoying at the beginning but after driving this for a few months I got my husband Infiniti QX80 on my foraging trip it’s even noisier on the engine. The only one complain I have is the mileage range. I went from my house to Mt. St. Helen I have to stop to charge one time and went around the mountain come down I have to stop to charge before I can drive home. The area where I always go have not many super fast charge station so I have to drive around to look for fast charge and wait for an hour for it to have enough energy to get home. Other problem is, when you charge to 100% it’s take a longer time as after 80% charged to speed of charge gone down a lot. And after a few 100% charge it decrease mileage range from 311 to 290-298, it’s take me a few more 80% charge to gain mileage back. It would be nice if in the near future GMC could upgrade battery up to 500+ miles, that’s my dream 😁😁

I’ve had a 2024 omega 3X for about a month now and I can say it’s the best driving experience you will ever find. Yes it’s heavy, but you get used to it. It’s as fast as a corvette and turns like a jeep wrangler. Highly recommend you go drive one if interested. Nothing like it on the road. Downside is the long range charging experience is a nightmare. Gotta find a 350kw charger to get you up to 80% in about 30 min. Everything else will add hours onto your trip. And Going 80 mph with wind you’re cutting that 300 miles of range almost in half. That is not an exaggeration. Range anxiety is real. The at home charging experience is great. Gets me to 80-90% in 12 hours easy. But I’d Keep it in town or under two hour trips for sure. If the battery was 1/2 the size with a gasoline range extender it would be perfect. I tell myself It’s like driving an H2 getting 5 mpg, you bought a Hummer idiot what did you expect.

Didn't tesla open up charging for gm vehicles at superchargers?
@ElectricEclectic18 күн бұрын
Yes, but the issue is virtually none of these manufacturers (besides Ford AFAIK) have delivered the necessary NACS adapters to make it happen. The only option for these users is MagicDock which has a J1772 / DC fast charge interface built in.

They got 18,000 off on the 3X model here down in Costa Mesa actually all over the country can’t get rid of them. Nobody wants them. They have a shitty release program B terrible lease program and C too expensive to purchase I mean interest rates right now through GM is like 7.99 up to 72 months you’re talking like a $2000 payment on a freaking car once again GM is stupid as heck
