Hi guys! For those of you who may be a little intimidated with making poached eggs at home, I hope today's tutorial will show you just how easy it is! You can store poached eggs for 4-5 days in the fridge (see more tips in the recipe post), so they're also great for meal prep! What's your favorite breakfast with poached eggs? xo - Lisa

I had never made a poached egg before (I'm 53). Today, I wanted one for breakfast on some avocado toast, so I brought up this video, watched it, and followed this with absolute precision. I made one for me and one for my wife, and she and I agreed that they came out absolutely perfectly. We were blown away. My first two poached eggs EVER were as perfect as anything I've ever had at a restaurant. Thanks for the great tutorial.

@@Crazytesseract why is that important to the quality of the video? Why are you even watching a video on eggs if it doesn't interest you.? And by the way, your views are completely debunked by science. You would be hard-pressed to find anything as healthy and the perfect ratio of protein to fat than the humble egg. In my biotechnology classes, I had learned that a bit of salt helps protein dissolve in water; basically the protein becomes more "water friendly", hence dissolves easily. So this may explain why the albumin (egg white) goes out of wack in salt water; it is just finding it easier to interact with the water and hence can dissipate easier. However if you add the vinegar, the pH lowers and since proteins can only maintain their structure (in this case, the liquid nature of the albumin) in a VERY specific range of pH and temperature, the lowered pH along with the heat will help coagulate the albumin faster. THANKS A LOT FOR THIS VIDEO ma'am. Really helpful !

😂😂😂.ive been eating my own made poached eggs every day for over 50 yrs. Put enough water to cover the egg, add a big splash of apple cider vinegar, boil medium to high, make sure the water bubbles over the top (i swirl it some to make sure my yolk is squishy, not firm). I just pour out the water while holding the egg in the pan w a spoon. Then slide it into the bowl. No probs but i've done it thousands of times.😊

I just made 3 poached eggs after watching your video. I made two minor changes…after draining, I carefully put all 3 in a small glass in stead of separate bowls. Second, I didn’t bring to full boil and then lower. I just brought to point of boil with the bubbles on the bottom of the pan and slowly dropped each egg from glass into non whirling water and then started timing for 3 minutes when last one went in. Removed after time was up and put on prepared buttered toast…perfect and delicious. I did put 1 Tbs. white vinegar in the water. As soon as each egg hit the water they immediately formed into poached egg shape. This was my first success with making a professional looking eggs. I have had great success with her soft boiled and hard boiled egg methods too. I usually use extra large eggs, and occasionally large ones. I didn’t have to adjust time for the extra large in any of her egg times. Thanks for all your hard work to set us up with successes.

A skilled egg poacher here! Add salt to the water and a lot- White wine vinager only. swirl the water around (water must have reached boiling and been sat for a minimum 5 mins) Get a sweral going on with the water! The pot used to transfer the egg must be small. Do not throw the egg in, place the egg and slowly does it. 3min-3.30 max as the egg will begin to cook once it has left the water. place the egg on a kitchen towel and pat dry. taken from the science of cooking book and also my own experience. Two business men left a restaurant after lunch. One said to the other, "i'll never have lunch with you again." His friend was bewildered and asked, "What did I do to offend you?" The first man said, "You had a TONGUE sandwich. How could you eat anything that had been in a cow's mouth?" The friend thought for a short time and replied, "I don't know why you're upset with me. YOU had an omlet!"

Had never poached an egg before. Tried the swirl with added vinegar after sifting the raw egg and result was brilliant. 3min on my cook top at the highest setting proved slightly too long. Half of the egg yolk was solid. Going to try 2min50 next time.

You aren’t meant to cook on the highest setting, she says to reduce the heat to low, with only small bubbles but not on the surface

Great video and kudos on the effort you went to! My tip is to put the egg in whole (without cracking it) in the boiling water for around 10-15 seconds, take it out and then crack the egg into the water. It comes out nearly perfect every time. Eggcelent

My method- boil a pan of water. Chuck egg in boiling water and turn off the heat. Put bread in the toaster. By the time the toast is done to my liking (about 2 1/2 minutes) and I’ve smothered it in butter, the eggs are done. Nice and runny eggs. No mess, just a plate, pan, knife and fork to wash. Simples. Use duck eggs, they’re so much nicer than chicken eggs when poached.

This was very informative, thank you! The bit about the loose egg white is a game changer. I didn't have a sieve, but I used a cup to gently pour out what I could. Not as exact, but definitely effective!

LOL. I fooled myself. I chose this video because I'm doing an experiment with the KZbin algorithm. But I ended up really enjoying the video and watching it all the way through. Now I think I know what I'm making my wife for Mother's Day breakfast.
