i feel like the biggest downside to being a nurse is the nurse gets blamed for everything even when it was not directly their fault.

mirandaalexis what? How?
@mirandaalexis4 жыл бұрын
@@ChiaChiaaaaa i work at a hospital that is a designated stroke center and if the nurses don't do neuro checks and assessments every hour and even if we tell the physician of a change, the nurses get in trouble if the MRI shows a stroke but not the physician for not ordering neuro checks.

mirandaalexis do you think that nurses get taken advantage of by other physicians. I am going into nursing school and always get worried about physicians treating me bad cause they have more years of education or schooling
@mirandaalexis4 жыл бұрын
@@ChiaChiaaaaa I mean, they can but you gotta try and be confident with what you know so that doesn't happen. I have a couple videos about that exact thing on my channel if that helps.

I didn't realize until I graduated and started working as a nurse how much I would often dread working weekends and holidays! I'm always ok once I get to work, but always feel a little grumpy initially when I know I'm going to be missing time with friends and family!

A good side of 'physically demanding' is that if you don't exercise, it's a nice way to stay active!

But at a higher risk for injuries. So many nurses have back problems

You continue to make amazing videos but here is my take on the matter after 9 years or more in the healthcare profession. 1. Which profession is more prestigious? On average, a physician is relatively more prestigious compared to nursing. However, individuals within our society are starting to see the value of nursing with advancements (e.g. independent practice, salary achievements, doctoral preparation, etc.) and the tide is starting to turn [Note: that is why nursing is the most trusted profession]. I truly believe that the future is brighter for the nursing profession when compared to the medical profession due to the advancements in "AI." 2. Which profession makes the most money? On average, a physician will make more money when compared to a nurse. However, the top-earning healthcare professionals are "administrators" and physicians and/or nurses can achieve these positions. There are many nurses who make more than general practitioners (e.g. NP's, PA's & general practice physicians) because they do not have the burden of student loans and liability insurance. 3. We can agree that nursing is MORE physical but that is a beauty! A nurse is the MAIN healthcare professional who takes clinical knowledge and applies it each day to achieve the outcome. The role of a nurse is too critical thinking and make sure the intervention is safe for that given patient. Healthcare is moving towards a "nursing model" because APRN's are gaining independent practice [Note: this week Florida will allow full practice authority for APRN's], rise in nurses' salaries, and it is hard to replace a "nurse." Artificial Intelligence can replace many roles within the healthcare system from diagnosing patients, imaging, etc. but it will be extremely difficult to replace that nurse. GREAT VIDEO!!!

I enjoyed the video, I’m excited to be more hands on with patients and I’m totally okay with the downsides brought up in this video. Why does there seem to be high burnout in the nursing field? I keep hearing “I dread going to work every shift” ...and I don’t get it. It seems like a very fulfilling, respected, well paid career.

Not really sure what you mean regarding the prestige...I think you're referring to RNs since you're saying "compared to NPs, PAs, and MDs" an NP is still a nurse...🤦♂️

I feel like RN get paid really well specially when there is Critical pay or ETB. Most of night RNs just pass pain meds and put pts to sleep and they take turns sleeping.

A lot of hospitals don't pay extra for critical care or specialties. Pay is based on years of experience.
