We carry 1 hose that is short with only one end, for state park dumps, then we have 3 hoses for long term camping and we've had to run all three to get to the sewer connection. Good to see you back doing projects. Hope you have a speedy recovery, once those ding dongs can agree whats wrong. lol

I had two sections of the Valterra closable hose when I got my motorhome. In one spot the dump was on the rear passenger side of the motorhome; 30' away. After that I bought two more sections of the same hose. Not that I needed two, but, just incase one hose sprung a leak. Shortly afterwards the connector on the hose made a crack sound when I put it on and then started to drip when I did the test pull on the grey first. Glad I had the extra hose.

@@petitchenil Petit, very good point. We had a hose ruined because someone walked through our site, stepping all over the hose. So glad we had another one. If you have the room, keep extras of what you can. Alice

I have 2 of the 5inch PVC fence sleeves like your DIY one. I mounted them so they are about an inch from being flush with the camper sides to get the most length possible. To get below the gas line, I used a 1inch spacer to lower the tube to be flat from side to side and clear the gas line. If you add a piece of 4 inch vinyl gutter, you can create a long slide out tray to pull things out of your tube and it prevents anything from getting stuck stuck beyond your reach in the middle. We carry 35 or 45 feet of the RinoFLEX sewer hose just incase we need it to reach, or in the event one goes bad we have extra just in case.

I added an additional storage tube to my van. Not for extra sewer hose because I can always move the van closer to the dump station, but for my fishing poles, all four of them fit inside the tube.

Larry, we carry two of the cheaper Rhino hoses with all the fittings, in the factory carrier. Then we have a third Rhino hose with just a fitting on one end to use only at dump stations. I have that in a 5 gallon bucket in the basement storage. A small brightly colored carabiner will serve to secure the door on the hose storage tube. I just zip tie the other end that typically isn’t ever used.

As this video is 2 weeks old when I am viewing it, my comment may have already been covered. For safety “locking” of the Valtera tube, use a small carabiner from Walmart (or others). Also, the ‘other’ tab (on right side & unused) may be used for a chain attachment point to keep the carabiner with the tube. You may want to attach a ‘keeper chain’ to the caps as well! Ken

To make it easier to climb under RV's I have plastic table cloths. With the table cloth I do not get stones sliding down my jeans as I slide under units. Also, if ground damp I stay dryer. The caps of my bumper storage kept coming off. I know use removable sewer line caps. Because the end cap is round and bumper is square air can move through the corners.
@settinger143 ай бұрын
Larry - for the tubes that don’t stay collapsed, if you seal each end with the screw-on caps once you’ve collapsed them, the tube won’t expand on you.
@lanedelker91614 ай бұрын
I removed the small tube that came with the RV, and I bought the Valterra expandable. It holds 20' of the Rhino collapsible hose quite well. I placed my tube on the front drop frame, just after the hydraulic jack lines. I used the end collar pieces and both of the floating attachment pieces for support. This way, the tube is never in jeopardy of road damage. I'm thinking about getting another tube on the camp side drop frame just for an extra 20', and get my orange extra hose out of a plastic bin.

Another great lesson! Thanks Larry. I’m curious why you have the two pieces of 2X4 set apart in that one section of hose but the rest of the hose is laying flat on the ground. It seems like that might cause a back up in the dumping process. Asking for a newbie friend.😉👍🏼😎

Also, can you explain the wood under the hose please? I’m new to this all
@DownsizingMakesCentsАй бұрын
The wood under the hose creates sections of the hose that is completely full of water, making an air barrier from the sewer to the RV. Sewer flies can be a problem if they can fly from the sewer to your grey or black tank. We usually. Keep our gate valves closed but sometimes i forget to come back and close after dumping, so this way the flies can go past. Sewer flies are annoying and grosss, if they get in your black tank they can fly out when flushing and are hard to track down and remove. Larry
