This video gave far more information about the tragic events of the people of western NC and eastern Tennessee than any national news has. I don't understand why this is. Keep spreading awareness so that these Americans can get the help they deserve. If not for faith-based groups and the kindness of average citizens there is no telling how much worse the outcome would have been. God Bless.

and ALL by design,,people need to awaken to ths gov. and leaders that have no use for us in this day and time. To all of them we are Useless eaters taking up ''their'' space. Fema is in on it just as well. Many aren't awakened to what trump and fema did before he left office. Many don't realise what they need to,,then all destructions would be a little more understandable. This fella speaking is on the right track,you the people are on your own,,but we the people are still here and there helping to rebuild now. Why so many have shown up,many are awakened to the signs and times. My heart breaks for all the people,expect nothing from the gov.,or leaders.

The way he tells his story is so awesome! Are you all sitting outside or in his home with no roof? It's obviously cold - can see your breath! Sooooo sad about all the loss of this beautiful part of our state (and also in E TN). It will never be the same again! God bless all the people helping by volunteering. The mattress up covering his instruments is a pure miracle! Loved the fact that his guitar and mandolin were untouched by mud! Sorry he never found his Bible! God is good despite the hard times! So sorry Lenny was lost. Michael's account of how he went down to other sites with his bicycle - needs to be made into a movie! Or written in a book! Otherwise people will not believe it! Being "born and raised' in a country your Forefathers STOLE VIOLENTLY, you have no rights. You're actually the Afrikaan Amerikaan's that came on those Dutch Afrikaan PENAL COLONIES to Turtle 🐢 Island. And you're usually the ones wholl be FIRST to tell an Indigenous Person to "Go Home", when this is the Ancestors home, meaning it was passed down hm them, before the Berber Servants "Annexed" or "conquered" it. Things are coming FULL CIRCLE. ⭕

This is a wonderful story and presentation. Please remember for every 1 Michael we still have a hundred more here in Appalachia with stories just like his some not as bad some worse but stories all the same. I am 62 years old and have been through and seen a lot. The floods of 1993 on the Mississippi river, Hugo, Andrew, Katrina, wrap them all in a ball and that was what was dropped on us here in WNC and East Tennessee. It will take decades to recover and some will never recover.

I know this is way off topic, but I just have to say, your eyeshadow looks really good on you. You did a great job with your makeup. Why am I saying this? Because a lot of women can just be catty and filled with jealousy. So, it’s always nice when one of us ladies can make another feel good, which was my goal with the above comment. None of us know what it’s like to walk in another person’s shoes. This amazing lady doing the interview has such a beautiful heart, and if anyone wants to see one that has beauty inside and out, simply look at this hard working, humble young lady, because there’s no reason to look further. Perhaps it would be easier financially for him to look into company “incredible tiny homes “company, they have a fully insulated built on axle trailer, ANSI certified model called the incred-I box, with the add a box which allows you to add as you go. Instead of re-building his existing home, which might prove to be out of reach money wise. With the models mentioned, I have seen them offer solar as optional add on. They also just built 50 for Lowe’s donating through beloved of Asheville charity. Which was just completed. They are towable, warm and insulated. They are out of Newport, TN. At least he would know this info as an option if his re-building cost of original home proves to be out of reach.
@DownSouth_AdventuresКүн бұрын
And that is an option and something he is considering. Unfortunately he will need money to bulldoze what is left of his home and then pay to set up a new home and reestablish power and water. He has a donated camper that he is living in but this is a temporary solution as it doesn’t not have power or water and is running off of a generator and very expensive propane for heat. Helping him get funded will allow him to move forward to the next step of getting back into a permanent home. Thank you for watching and please consider making even a small donation of $5

This is the BEST interview ive heard ! I live in New Hampire & had to deal with FEMA a few different yrs.. we've been paying for flood insurance since 1995. They tell everyone to apply for a small business lpans.... why pay a few thousand dollars every year & we're expected to borrow money ? We didnt have to thank God ! The last flood we had was 2007 ! I had to argue with them cause they only wanted to pay for the 4ft of insulation amongst other things. It was a very hot summer so mold was moving in. I had to fight to get the whole walls. Im not an argumentive at all. But i had to be cause nice want helping. I remember saying... i dont know where you live but in NH insulaton is a must ! We had 15" of water in the house.. i got a letter saying they were paying for. the insulation . Flooding here was like a puddle compared to WNC. I .cry for what they're going through, i cant imagine it. Just the psychological probblems is scary for those who don't get help. Sorry for the ranting but fema could be run 100% better having a 17 yr old in charge. Im going to subscribe to your utube. Have a very Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 ❤❤

IMHO FEMA is only there to collect a check. The last week of 2021 there was a disaster at my place. I tried to get FEMA funds and they said they would send me a form. I waited and called about it a few times but eventually I forgot it. This spring I got a letter saying it was too late to apply. Two weeks later I got the form. Don't waste your time or hope on FEMA.

Will they give him a permit?
@DownSouth_Adventures6 сағат бұрын
He is awaiting that approval. He has a few ideas of what he wants to do once permitted. He has plenty of land there and will be able to build something, somewhere on it, he just doesn’t have the final ruling yet as to what

FEMA partners with other agencies to help meet the needs of disaster survivors. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) offers low-interest disaster loans to homeowners and renters in a declared major disaster area. Any insurance money received in lieu of money received from FEMA will have to be paid back. FEMA monies received not recovered from insurance does not have to be paid back if a grant. President Carter started FEMA but Bush folded into Homeland Security.

Less than 1% of the population in Western North Carolina had flood insurance so no one’s damage is being covered. Sadly, the ones that did have flood insurance did not have landslide insurance, which is something else altogether. As far as the SBA loan goes, he applied, and he was told they were “currently out of funding” but if Congress approved additional funding, he would be put back on the list.

Flood insurance?
@DownSouth_AdventuresКүн бұрын
Less than 1% of the people in these areas carried flood insurance because the possibility of flooding was .2% Many of these homes are generational and because of nicer developments and newcomers moving in folks can barely afford the taxes etc.
@FAODayTripperКүн бұрын
@ Are you saying that these houses were in the 500 year flood plain. As close as that house looked to the river I would think it was in the 100 year flood plain, which translates to a 1% chance every year of flooding
@etexsly2502Күн бұрын
@@FAODayTripper Having had a major flood in 1977 and knowing that the water did not reach the top step, one can assume that he was not in what would have been marked as the 100-yr flood plain.

Hello , could it be , the federal government, what's to take the land , for themselves, for the minerals in the mountains?

That has been said… but not his property specifically. He owns the land and would like to build back there and can do that with a little help
