A fully upgraded rocket launcher with stowed reloading is quite good. I run the executioner, rocket launcher, and tormentor fully upgraded. Like he mentions, if a group is clustered, you can kill most of the group with 2 rockets. If you have the extra ammo on the RL, then you get 3 rockets that will wipe every group. Switch back to your sniper and stowed reloading will have your RL ready for you shortly. This is all on hard. If you know how to play FPS games, don't ever bother with anything below hard. I started as a fresh character on hard and just removing the enemy shields to let your team wipe up will net you lots of credits.

Ok so, after you installed it, after it loaded, did it show your correct ship? At the screen that shows your ship and has the choices social, options, store, ect? Because it’s showing a sidewinder there and I am concerned.

I didn't move to PC I was forced to move to PC after Frontier gave up on consoles so I'll try it on PC for a bit and see if Odyssey was worth it or not.

I decided to pick this up and give it a try without any guides. Did the quite decent starter tutorial guide and was dumped at a station with zero clear idea what to do. Took a simple delivery mission, worked out how to rent a shuttle for 100cr to that location, then found the box via looking up the location in another terminal, input the code.. then stranded with no idea how I'm supposed to get away. Eventually I was attacked by locals for no obvious reason and got a crime stat when I defended myself and ended up with a 174,000cr penalty for respawning. So deleted that Cmdr and will restart.. but as an observation this game is lacking any intuitive help, and I say that as a seasoned space game player so I'm more than familiar with many other games in the genre.

Thank you I just transferred my account tonight and even though I've played a bit of odyssey this help me a lot to get started. I was a little worried when I first started up and I had to go through the ground tutorial and it said I had 0 credits but right after that I was sent back to the main menu and when I started I had all of my credits.

Good video as always! Rocket launcher is the way to go in conflict zone. The dumb IA is running in pack of five. 2 shots and wait for the next wave. 10 min max for a high conflict zone!

Trivial mass kills using the L6 haven’t been a thing since at least u12. They scatter, stagger and sprint now. The AI makes you work for it a lot more than the early odyssey days. Still possible, but not as easy as it used to be.

Yes, plasma weapons are versalite, but I think the current meta for PvP is P-15 (with headshot), TK Eclipse (yes!) and rocket launcher. Anyway, good job, D2EA. 👌

The build I recommend in the video is intended for PVE combat not PVP. I'm sure there are another meta for PVP, but since I don't really do PVP I don't know

I would say that instead of reduced tool battery consumption on maverick use something more useful like shield regen or damage resistance or something. You can carry plenty of energy cell packs to recharge your suit with extra backpack, recharge/resupply battery/energy cells at your SRV or just recharge your battery at recharge ports. Also again on the dominator ammo capacity seems like a complete waste. Free ammo crates can be found scattered all over the placed at GCZs and settlements there’s no need to waste an engineering slot to carry more ammo. Extra backpack would even be better on the dominator to carry more energy cells and medkits instead. Or battery capacity so your shield can stay up longer before needing to recharge.

Extra Backpack doesn't increase consumables. Sad really. For a pure PVE Dominator suit I'd probably go Jump, Sprint, Battery, Ammo. Makes maneuverability very high, keeps you from having to hit the recharge terminal as often and keeps you slinging dakka as long as possible. If you don't use the low reserve ammo weapons, or super fast emptying weapons, I'd swap out the ammo for Combat Movement Speed. But CMS is usually the first mod to put on a dominator. It's simply that good, especially when you're wielding a L-6 or Executioner.

@@toquevilleus IME the jetpack on the dominator is so weak that even the engineering mod won't make much of a difference. I went for damage resistance, faster shield regen, battery capacity and combat movement speed. The CMS is really good and allows for proper combat movement clearing corners and rooms. Sprint to me is situational - in combat situation I don't sprint long enough to benefit from it, it's more like short bursts from cover to cover.

@@cmdr.shurimal8980 in specific, the jump mod on the Domi is the difference between getting up to the next higher rooftop and not getting up to that rooftop in >.5g. I’ll grant you it isn’t amazing. But it will be noticed. Paired with an L6, it allows you to get a much better angle for precisely aiming at the ground. The mods outside of CMS (which imho is ridiculously powerful since it removes movement penalty from Aiming down sights as well) are mostly quality of life things with great utility in some specific situations. But as I said, for a purely pve suit that’s what I’d choose. All my PvP suits start with CMS.

Yeah, if you hate swapping weapons then this video is not the worst loadout advice. The maverick load out is reasonably well thought out. However, that dominator build will struggle against the current open gCZ Dominator build, and frankly the shotgun is a high skill weapon against other CMDRs not a beginner weapon. I would suggest re-evaluating the utility of weapon swapping and re-evaluate the Laser and Kinetic weapons instead of just pulling out 1 weapon and trying to use it for everything. That being said, DtEA, I would suggest also re-evaluating the mechanics of how the longer range mod works. IMHO, your suggestion of long range on the Executioner and Intimidator is awful advice.

Great video albeit. To each their own when it comes to weapons. Personally, I can't stand the fact that you have to wait three weeks for the plasma shell to reach a target unless you're standing inside them. Kinetic weapons do the trick for me and I've never had any problems with them. The switching from Energy to Kinetic doesn't bother me either. At least it makes the combat more fluid and not as stale and boring as just running a plasma weapon. Again, it's personal opinion so to each their own.

honestly, i'm running the only reason i would get odyssey is to supplement my exploration and have more things to do when i'm out there. i don't remember seeing nay video on the exploration aspect of odyssey. is it fun? and what does it bring you? to be honest just more cash rewards from explo is already good enough if the on foot exploration is fun.

Maybe it was more important to give some tips on the new control scheme you have to get use to, have been on PlayStation the hole time until now, where I was use to doing it all with one controller, and using a controller on Pc is not the same because a lot of the controls are stil split out over the keyboard and mouse too. 😢

Artemis with battery capacity, reduced tool consumption, improved jump assistance and night vision. As for guns - I haven't seen anything to shoot at while exploring yet. Tormentor and Executioner (the latter with scope mod is at least useful as binoculars).

All the space port screens look like the carrier screen, the entire GUI is just bad now. Definitely dropped like 10 fps everywhere, even on the silly menu's. Back to 3.8 for me. Edit: OK now I'm used to it, 1 day later lol. The jump sequence and planets look way better now too.

I only have my pc for freelancing I.e. not a dedicated gaming pc - is it possible (with lowest graphics setting) to play EDO on a ASUS vivobook i7 with 16 GB 2400MHz RAM, and NVIDIA® MX330 discrete graphics card ? I play ED on a ps4-pro at moment and need to prepare to transfer my account. Is it possible to play on such a basic laptop or should I forget it and just play horizons on my console till the game sunsets. I don’t play any other games - life & kids etc. should I spend £000s on a desktop for one game?

I was pretty much in the same situation. I had subbed to a cloud PC service and the performance degraded greatly after the owner changed. I had a settop box and nothing else. Fortunately I found a bank that would allow me a loan of 1000 bucks for 12 months (which happens to be the warranty period of my machine). I opted for a HP Pavilion TG01-2000a which had all components I wished for. Only component I replaced was the M.2 SSD as it was only 512 GB and I replaced it with a faster and bigger M.2 SSD as Amazon was offering me to buy that thing in 5 rates. So I was all setup at about 100 bucks each month for a nice machine. The cloud PC did cost me nearly 40 bucks/month that were freed up upon cancellation. Just in case you're going to use a PC more frequently then this would be a good investment. For me as a semi-professional gamer it was a no-brainer.

Combat build is meh, at least versus bots. I use double rocket launchers and a tormentor (level 5 ofc). If you run up to a single enemy, take tormentor, pew pew, dead. If you run into more than one enemy, you have 4 rockets (or up to 6 if you have increased mag size on them) that you can fire in rapid succession, making sure that whatever enemy blob was in front of you is either completely dead, or what's left of it is scattered, shieldless and wounded to a point where you can easily pick off stragglers with the Tormentor. If you have stowed reloading on the rocket launchers, you don't even have to reload them ever, just count to ten with a tormentor in hand and you're good. There's nothing more pleasant in on-foot combat in EDO than having a pack of 6 enemies descend from a Vulture.... while you are 15 meters above them (jumping or on a roof etc.) firing off a barrage of rockets right at their feet. Several BOOMs and perhaps a couple of tormentor shots later you have 6 bodies on the ground. Sweet.

Plenty of power restoration, salvage, combat and delivery missions. Amusingly, taking stuff from an abandoned settlement doesn't count as stealing and this is where I get most of the needed stuff (plausible deniability; no guards around and you can always blame the (other) scavengers if anybody asks ;) ).
