this is quite like when I would go up to my father saying, "Dad!", and he'd only reply, "How much?". 😄😄😄

Every time you feel like Robert’s conservatism gets the better of him, there is always Carson. What a duo.

The way the Dowager stands with confusion is amazing 🤣

The Dowager came from a time where the social order was more formal. I suppose for her, even just hearing the King’s voice was enough reason to stand in attention.

My grandparents would always stand if the queen was ever on tv too. They were both born under George V, and grew up under George VI times. Then by the time they were in their 20’s, Elizabeth was Queen. They got their first TV to watch her coronation

"Why is it called a wire-less when there are so many wires?" "...I don't know" I love Daisy and Mrs. Patmore! Like a mother and daughter gossiping!

Imagine in a hundred years since, the wireless has become a talking box with moving pictures where you can watch it half naked and fart out the national anthem, how time has changed!

Sounds ghastly, let's hope it never happens.

What a brilliant man Julian Fellow's is, to have written all this wonderful dialogue.

lol Violet's words completely echo that of the Duke of Windsor's commentary in "The Crown" when his niece was being crowned

I think Rose is what Julian had in mind for either Sybil or Edith initially, but I think Edith is more suitable. Sybil is way more serious that Edith and she's the one living in London with all the ameneties.

Proud of Mrs Patmore to be able to say "I don't know to a Protege", humble.

Carson would have had ten strokes if he could see the technology of today. 😂 And Lord Grantham is right, most of them are a kind of thief of life. Including this smartphone I'm on right now.

"It's a fad, it won't last". I see my dad in Robert all the time. The telephone is still up today, it did last. Robert was wrong about a lot of things. Quite frankly, I can't remember a time where he was right about anything except when he bailed Mary out from being blackmailed by the chamber maid. He nearly lost Downton twice. He nearly invested Downton's future in the ponzy scheme, he didn't let them take sybil to the hospital against better judgement and Cora's preference and it cost them her life, the list goes on and on. In the end, this show goes to show how men heading households with a Traditional rule, British tradition, go on wrecking people's lives because they are the head and few people can counter their decisions. That's where Matthew was good at putting Robert in his place. He knew that Robert's present mess would become his future problem and so he had every right to challenge Robert at every turn. I wish young people today did more challenging to foolish adults, because Robert was a dignified fool to be honest.

My mother wouldn't get a TV. I have a friend who won't touch a smart phone. And I'm NEVER going to get done at this rate...

I'm Definitely a Mr Carson. I hate new technologies that change the world. I like things the way they are. Archaic and old school. Haha. I like the simplicity of old school

Rose, a waste of space without a penny to her name bled them dry. They even paid for her bloody wedding. How I miss Downton Abbey 🙂
