I feel like Isobel is the only one who gets to call out Violet like that. Her role in Violet's character development & the friendship they had in general has always been one of my favourite things about the show & I'm pleased they got their moment solely focused on that in the 2nd movie (which made me cry, btw). That+ the very fun & chaotic aspect of these 2, make them absolutely iconic & you never get tired of watching their scenes. Genius writing, genius acting. I just love them & this show so fucking much. Really glad I subscribed here.

Yes, she sacked him with no shred of evidence, based only on suspicion of mal-intent rooted in deep prejudice; she was awful in the way she tried to come on the top in the end with her final machinations, just like a floating turd in a swampy water, repulsive and unbothered. Crawley saw through all of that and was the 'good guy' here, even with no support from that wimpy, yes-man of a doctor.
@albee9892 Жыл бұрын
I disagree and think that the point of this short storyline flies over most viewers heads, being that Violet was wrong, she did have prejudices, but that she was not the only one. Mrs Crawley was just as biased and prejudiced as Violet is, it just shows less because she was the one sticking up for the most obvious underdog. The point of the interaction at the end wasn’t to show that Violet had ‘won’ anything, it was to show that the true difference between Mrs Crawley and Violet was that Violet was willing to stoop down and apologise and change her behaviour, to admit she was prejudiced. Crawley didn’t even do that when she wrongfully accused Violet herself of meddling in Matthew and Mary’s marriage. Because Violet is not someone she feels she should defend or respect in that way as ‘the enemy’. They were far more complex duo than they are given credit for. Id even go as far to say that the ‘yes man’ in your opinion was the ONLY right one in this situation, willing to listen to both sides of a story before pushing for his views, a value that seems to have been lost in modern society.
@Dragblacker2 күн бұрын
@@albee9892 "it just shows less because she was the one sticking up for the most obvious underdog" That just shows that audiences in general are biased and prejudiced, to automatically have sympathy for an underdog just for being an underdog. That's why Justice is supposed to wear a blindfold.

At 2:57. Isobel's trying to be sneaky, looking for the blasted fancy knife. But I love how she doesn't realize that those old wooden floors creak like crazy. And that Sprat is probably hearing that wood creaking all over when Isobel should be sitting still. He puts two and two together, as is his wont, and will know even more about the silly dramas of the Dowager Countess. That's how he casually came in with that missing Japanese ceramic piece--he was following very carefully what was being discussed by Isobel and the Countess. Sneaky, sneaky Sprat. LOL...

Yeah I don't agree with this. Isobel was right all along and while admitting she was wrong & asking for forgiveness, might be a big deal for the Dowager, in reality it is the bare minimum. Let's also not pretend the boy was in any position to deny her anyway. Isobel still won this round imo, if only for making the Dowager see the errors of her ways.

Here's the thing: it wasn't any of Isobel's business. She stuck her nose in where it was neither wanted or needed, like any busybody (or most activists), and made herself a victim of her own self-righteousness. Lady Grantham owed her nothing.
