My best friend from high school has been living in Portland for the past 14 years. Blame the homelessness on the past 7 years of the city jacking up its cost of housing to double what it was. In just a couple of years time (around 2016 - 2018) was the biggest spike mind you. A house that was worth $350K is now worth $700K. No one there can afford that. That goes for rentals too. It's mostly LLC's buying up real estate the past 2 years. I know this because my friend kept getting way overbid by them every time he was interested in buying a house. He had to give up the ghost & him, his wife & his daughter had to move to Tigard because these LLC's would go way over asking price. I love all the people getting on here getting political about it when they have absolutely no idea what has really happened there. When you exponentially jack up the cost of living & wages don't match the costs, then this is what happens.

@@seanyboston all these comments try to pretend this stuff only happens in Portland. The fact is there are people on stolen bicycles breaking into cars in EVERY city and cities in poor red states have even higher crime rates. I live in Fresno now which is a VERY conservative city. We still have people driving around with Trump flags on their trucks here. We also have the highest crime rate in the state. Higher than San Francisco and even Los Angeles. Because crime comes from poverty. Not race or political affiliation. Portland on the other hand is nice and pretty and full of fun creative people doing fun and exciting things. Adam is in the worst part of town in this video and the streets and sidewalks are still clean and people are shopping and getting food. So yes. You may get your car broken into if you leave stuff in your car. But you might also get offered a free cupcake from a kind stranger right after that. Do those two things really cancel each other out? No. But are there people walking around downtown Fresno just to give strangers cupcakes? No. It’s scary down there. We don’t even go downtown here because it’s so ugly and dangerous.

As a travel vlogger, what exactly do you propose Adam do that he has not already accomplished? Have you exposed to nearly 700,000 people the interesting and beautiful things that make Portland a vibrant and important American city? Adam just did that. He's not the mayor. He's not a city counsel member. He doesn't have access to government funding. Heck, Adam doesn't even reside there!
