That is in the pills they smoke all the time. They are quickly damaged mentally and physically beyond the point of repair. Street addicts gradually destroy everything around themselves. Sad but true. Much of LA is a disaster zone. But high housing costs and the housing shortage really are a huge factor on the West Coast. There are irresponsible as well as disabled and or traumatized/addicted/people who've been through extreme crisis etc. everywhere. Many of the people who elsewhere would be staying with relatives or renting rooms are instead living in their vehicles or on the street...

@@sarbantz For some reason my reply was deleted. The street drugs are only part of it. Most homeless people do not use hard drugs. Those who have addiction problems, incarceration or other crises history, or mental illness are only part of the issue in California and the US west coast. The cost of just rooms, and the lack thereof, mean that many of the part time working poor or those on S.S.I. etc. are now homeless, even if they are clean and sober no criminal record etc., who elsewhere, or ten years ago even here, would have been living indoors.
@jKLa2 жыл бұрын
@@sarbantz what you just wrote is also inaccurate in that while it would certainly help if there was less fentanyl and all the rest (rat poison should be banned as it kills birds!), we could immensely reduce homelessness by changing building codes and zoning, and reducing and streamlining other regulations, to allow significant construction of rooming homes, mobile home parks, cheep apartment complexes etc like was done in the past, and which is now largely illegal to build. Likewise reduce land development restrictions and the ability if existing homeowners to block new development where these issues are most extreme, such as in Coastal California.

@@sarbantz I am certain that where you live far from all street homeless are on Fentanyl. Most are not on hard drugs in my area. I am just tired of online "zingers" used as performative substitutes for actual problem solving/critical thinking (ie implying San Diego's deep-seated and longstanding homeless issue is the fault of a politician who has been in office for less than three years, also w/out accounting for the additional impacts of Covid, increasingly ubiquitous short-term rentals, land/housing shortage, etc.). I've lived here for a quarter century and want to see more solutions ASAP, but it is a wildly complicated and multifaceted issue to tackle. Be well! @@robparadise6099
