Sometimes to understand better natives we need to know expressions and colloquial phrases
which metaphorically mean very different things , but they are very common.
😍Come with me today in a very beautiful place , very close to Thessaloniki, which is called Peraia, and learn 5 Greek expressions you Must NOT take literally. Actually you're learning 5 funny greek expressions with a funny way from us.
My husband helped me to make those clips between the main video in order to understand the meaning better . But I tried to make the dialogues as real as I could.
So, today I decided to make this different lesson, this outdoor lesson in front of the sea of Thessaloniki, because I was thinking that for greek learners it would be nice to see something from Greece too.
In this lesson we’re learning how to understand Greeks better and how to sound like Greeks.
Please , forgive me for wearing my glasses but the sun was very strong that day.
So did you know that in greek there are many expressions with a very different meaning?
Time stamps:
00:00 Intro
00:26 Time lampse
00:53 Greetings
01:34 Πέρα βρέχει
02:34 Τα κεφάλια μέσα
03:28 Σου βάζω τα γυαλιά
04:28 Άρχισαν τα όργανα
05:28 Μυρίζω τα νύχια μου
06:07 Outro
Today we’re learning 5 of them.
1.Πέρα βρέχει! Literally it means : it ‘s raining somewhere away. But can you guess why Greeks use it?
2.Τα κεφάλια μέσα. Heads inside!! Inside where?? Don’t take literally this expression.
3.Σου βάζω τα γυαλιά! Literally means I put you the glasses, I wear you the glasses! But if somebody tells you this, what would you understand?
4.Άρχισαν τα όργανα! Mmm! ‘’όργανα’’ means instruments! Are we in a festival or in a concert? No!! Greeks use this expression in a crazy way!!
5.Μυρίζω τα νύχια μου! Literally means I smell my nails!! But Greeks mean something very different!!
Watch the video and learn more!
Please , tell me in the comments if you like this outdoor lesson and if you want more like this!
Also it would be nice to know if you like the clips I added!
