I know its partly this interviewers style, but Jake is a rare actor who is very open to life, and seems to have little to no self conciousness. It's so refreshing.

i love the way he has consistently talked about the requirements of being an actor and how people are amazed at the things that should be MANDATORY. you SHOULD be a triple threat, you SHOULD remember your lines for years to come. mad respect for how seriously he takes it.

This is he kind of interview that gets you closer to the person, the real Jake. You sort of like get the feeling that you are sitting next to him, talking to him, and that he is opening up like he would do with his friends. Loved it.

This is a great interview. I've watched a lot of your interviews and I really like your interviewing style. Please don't change anything about it. You're actually listening to what the actor is saying instead of being focused on the next question you need to ask. I like the parts where you discussed the feel of your interviews and how it sometimes doesn't work with some actors because they aren't ready for it. This was infinitely more interesting than watching a 5 minute clip of him being asked about his love life and his workout routine.

I think Jake is one of the best in Hollywood. Loved this interview and love hearing them talk about acting in general. When the bit about not being able to get rid of 'you' came up, I immediately thought of River Phoenix. He was able to completely embody another character. Looks like a different person in every film. Another brilliant actor.

this movie....... the moments that broke my heart was literally jakes performance. his eyes. the pain in his eyes. the love in his eyes for his girlfriend. it was all jake. he broke my heart in this movie.

I'm from Spain, I speak Spanish and I saw the complete interview. I understand English (although i could not understand some expression, but it's normal with my level) and it was amazing. I felt like taking with a friend, I learned more about actors (I want to work on cinema), I thought about some values... I'm completely agree with the interviewer and Jake about evrything. Really, this is one of my favorite interviews in the world. What a fast 53 minutes!

I don't know what this interviewers name is but he's the best I've ever heard. These dp interviews with jake gyllenhall are my favourite. So many interviewers ask completely irrelevant invasive and ridiculous questions usually. Also I could listen to Jake Gyllenhaal talk about his work all day. I agree with some of the comments that even though he is incredibly successful I think he is underrated. He's a phenomenal actor and is clearly interested in understanding people which I think is an important and admirable trait in someone

I really enjoyed this intervju and I most certainly will watch Stronger. I suffer from CFS/ME and there's no cure. Jake Gyllenhaal is most welcome to make a film about this invisible and lonely disease. We are so many that suffer without even geting the correct diagnose. He if anybody, could make it visible!

One of your best interviews! And very ironic that I watched it at just the right moment. I sent it straight away to my acting student as Jake was saying so many things about his craft that I have been saying to her over time. Helped a lot I think, thank you! Great interview David. Any chance of getting Shia LaBeouf for another interview? I know you've sat down with him before but it was only for ten or so minutes around when Wall Street 2 came out. Getting him on again for a longer interview would be a dream. Not sure if he's still doing press for Borg vs McEnroe or not though...

The way Jake said "something great you can't deny" made me feel like, wow, this has to probably be part of Dan Gilroy's new project! I don't know, it sounds like it could be of his dark new art world based movie. Sounded like something Jake could say being a very dark character again but this time of course in a different way yet again. I'm incredibly hyped for what is next for Jake. He'll work with Dano, Cumberbatch, Villeneuve (maybe), Luca....... and even more! It's fucking insane. He'll get an Oscar soon that is just for sure. And if not, whatever, there are gonna be new movies we'll watch for ages.

Thank you so much for this interview. I haven´t watched many of your interviews, but I really enjoyed the ones I´ve seen so far and I fear I am going to end up doing a very serious binge watching session at some point! I do learn a lot from everything that is being said and it helps me so much to understand some things about making movies that I haven´t quite understood just yet. I have always loved analysing and as long as I´ve lived I have never been satisfied with "only" seeing the end result of someone´s work, I have always been interested in getting to know the idea behind it and the work that had to be done to get to a result finally, so to hear people talk in depth about their process is like my birthday and christmas coming together at once *lol* Happy Thanksgiving!

DP/30: The Oral History Of Hollywood But he's born in Germany so it's not that wrong. He's got a German passport etc.
@TheDomaZog6 жыл бұрын
Actually he's both Austrian and German. His father is German, also seperating Germans and Austrians in any strict, real way is a post WW2 phenomenon anyway. Austrians are really just Bavarians with a different name. The period of Austrian-Prussian conflict is called "German Dualism" for a reason.
@nikkili89445 жыл бұрын
I know I'm late to the party but I have to clarify this: Waltz has the German and also the Austrian citizenship. His father was German, his mother is Austrian. He was born and raised in Vienna. BTW never ever call Austrians "some kind of Germans". That's a big No-No. They're not down with that. 😉 The language (Austrian German) is completely different than German, but technically yes, Austrians speak German (same with Swiss people who live in the German part of Switzerland). You can watch an old Christoph Waltz interview with Conan O'Brien where he explains the difference between Austrians and Germans. It's very funny and entertaining 🙂

I think the same too. In a recent interview, I guess it was a Facebook live, the interviewer asked him at the end of the talk what would be the next thing he would do if he wasn't afraid, and he answered: "Fall in love". A little sad, right? I think he's disappointed with everything related to relationships, and he also looks tired. He needs madly this short break!
