What an amazing explanation.you must be very smart to explain all these details.now I can understand why yazdani beat everyone so easy.thanks again for your nice video
@kralj0996 жыл бұрын
Nice one, didn't expect to see Yazdani on this channel. His game, like the game of a lot of Iranians (check out Masoud Esmaeilpoor for example), seems to revolve around the underhook, getting to it and then using it in a forward pressure way, where they seem to aim to push the opponent out of bounds, and when he resists the push out, score on him. Wrestling coaches from the US, like Mark Perry and Brandon Slay have taken notice of it 3 or 4 years ago, and have videos (DVDs in Mark's case) where they explain how it works. One detail, that you missed in the video, is that Yazdani always puts his head on the opposite side of the underhook, which is something that is traditionally not taught. Conventionally, you're taught to put your head on the underhook side, so as to take that space that is in between, which then opens high crotches, single legs, fireman's carries, duck unders, side headlocks, etc. Yazdani also doesn't position the underhook in the classical way, by grabbing the outside of the shoulder and sagging on it so that the opponent can't slip the arm out, what he does is he diggs deep behind his opponent's back, where he seemingly grabs nothing but keeps the fist like a blanket, a blanket that slips across his opponent's back, enveloping him in a way. It is a very greco-like underhook, that requires a lot of pressure and power. The reason behind the Iranians utilizing that kinda approach maybe in their belief that it allows for better control of the opponent's body, especially the underhook half of it, while the head and the other free arm can then better defend against the usual counters to the underhook, like the overhook duck under, high crotch, fireman's carry, arm throw, inside trip, etc. Of course, it also makes the knee picks easier to set up. P.S. That whip around from the list would, I think, be classified as a throw by.
@kralj0996 жыл бұрын
Dan Sweeney Well, from what Brandon Slay says, it's utilized by the Russians as well, but I wouldn't know personally. Yeah, it feels awkward to me as well, or rather, not awkward but less controlling, in the sense that I feel, and have experienced, that your opponent can slip his arm from the underhook more easily as compared to the traditional underhook.
@jaredpresley46026 жыл бұрын
It's "easier" to slip but when you are pushing in the way Yazdani or IMAR does it, any reaction like circling or clearing out leaves wide openings for the various attacks they hit. It is not a "static" tie, even though it looks that way. They are always moving their feet. I promise I'll finish that thread on sherdog explaining, school is finally wrapping up

All I remember is Sidakov slide by. He set up with left collar tie, right underhook, opponent blocks it, he crowbar grips the tricep then slide by

DPS Breakdowns well, don’t tell anyone, but the reverse or pinch headlock has been extremely high % I like that it is scalable in intensity so I don’t have to slam my white belts, but it’s high percentage for matches and you and side control cross face underhook

His underhook is murder. I see him get that and wrestlers HATE it, Yazdani is a lion. I am a judoka and I would use the underhook in nogi to get wrestlers and the like in a more upright position to go for reaps and hip throws. I could throw a mean osoto gari from underhook position and its a very hard to counter once your balance has been taken

It looks to me like he commits to it really well and once he gets it he is not letting you out of it. He attacks well off his opponents weak attempt to escape that underhook. I see some wrestlers get an under hook and not really fight to keep it like Yadani does

very similar to GSP 's KneeTap, I think his style of Wrestling will translate well to other Grappling avenues and MMA if he chooses to.
@kallepikku49916 жыл бұрын
It's not GSP's Kneetap. It's just a Kneetap. Every wrestler has learned kneetaps, it's just a matter of whether they like to use it or not.
@bigmember59086 жыл бұрын
really? every wrestler? Greco guys train Knee Taps? seems pointless training in something that will only give your opponent victory......but I guess you'd know better then anyone else. just like your arrogant ass knew what I meant by GSP's Kneetap as opposed to "the way GSP specifically does Knee Taps" rather then assuming I would think he had invented it. I know it's the internet but still......
@jaredpresley46026 жыл бұрын
Big Member to be fair.. wrestlers often have to deal with mma or Bjj people only really acknowledging a technique if they saw an mma fighter or Bjj guy do it. And deal with non wrestlers trying to tell wrestlers how wrestling works. Also, don’t overreact, all wrestlers do know or learn it, even overseas all Greco people train a little freestyle even if only young. You don’t see the knee tap or under hooks more often in American wrestling for a host of reasons having nothing to do with whether or not they learned it
@bigmember59086 жыл бұрын
overreacting was when my intelligence was insulted not when I snapped back. definitions of words don't change because someone on the internet wanted to sound hard. I've put state champ wreslers on their butts before, I wont be talked down to by 'random kid on the internet' who wants to school me over semantics. if someone wants to have trouble with me they can set up some mat time and respect me after I smash them or they can respect me from the beginning. there is no disrespect me option
@jaredpresley46026 жыл бұрын
Big Member in what exact way was your intelligence insulted? And to your little brag.. I’d say given how you said it, a former state champ who no longer competes or who won in a trash state or someone you are bigger than isn’t really that big a deal And I’m not a kid, I seriously think you are overreacting and if you’re going to brag, brag about beating grown college wrestlers in their prime not high school kids

So I noticed that he likes to drape his arm across the opponents back when he gets his underhook. If you look at guys like Carl Adams, when they do their underhooks they like to put a lot of pressure on that shoulder joint. Do you know if there is a specific reason to why he goes across the back rather than the shoulder joint?
@DPSBreakdowns5 жыл бұрын
Jake - good observation. Yazdani and the other Iranians almost always grip the opponent's lat rather than the shoulder. I am not 100% sure on the advantages/disadvantages between the two gripping styles, but I do think one reason is that the lat grip can make it more difficult for the opponent to circle out of the position.
@Alister8432 жыл бұрын
Personally, I’ve found that the close trap grip has options like tai otoshis and snap downs. With the far lat grip the options would be more for ogoshi and as we can see knee tap/ankle pick options because it’s easier to apply pressure across the body. The problem with both of them are that they make it easier for your opponent to apply pressure with the whizzer. To negate this would be a grip on the far trap but it does come with less offensive options.
