Actually it works only if you foot step SFX is short and has constant loudnes. But if you need slightly reduce loudness of the music depending on the level of some continues SFX you need to implement real side chain compressor with the help of submixes and submix chain effects. Do you have a tutorial video about submixes and applying different sound effects?
