Are people still buying PCVR headsets or are they just using standalones wirelessly connected? I'm a pixel peeper and still prefer a tethered headset, but I know it doesn't bother some people if thye get some compression artifacts... but I would take the DPVR over a standalone headsets for PCVR anyway. What about you?

Well I'm still clinging onto my Index for now. Love the Beardcam™ by the way 😂
@ge27193 ай бұрын
pcvr headsets seem to have stagnated since the index. only real push in terms of tech is the bigscreen beyond reducing size, which is very pricy for what it is. and the pimax crystal which is just weird with its whole needing a battery still even with pcvr means its not really a pcvr headset. the index still being the same price is ridiculous. its no wonder pcvr is being dominated by quest

I still love the Index, been amazing in my arcade. I was worried the beardcam might ick some people out, but I can't really stop it with a chest mounted camera. 😅

Wow nice VR arcade. There is also a VR arcade at a nearby mall here in my area in the Philippines and the arcade is the main reason I fell in love with VR and bought one for myself. VR needs to be experienced and not just watched online for it to become more mainstream and arcades like yours are very important to spread the awesomeness of VR. More powers to you guys.

Thank you, and I agree. You need to try it to really appreciate how good it is these days.

Great video, love your arcade, wish we had something like it were we live. Do you think the soft floppy DPVR interface could be modified to fit the Quest 3?
@RaMarcus2 ай бұрын
Thanks. And nah, it wouldn't fit. It sort of hooks on with push in bits. Can't see a way to add it. Maybe if you used some velcro but there is likely a better option out there.

Thanks for the video, can you tell me why you chose the DPVR E4 over the Quest 3 connected via cable? Also I assume you find the software IPD adjustment is sufficient for most clients?
@RaMarcus2 ай бұрын
For arcade use it makes so much more sense. No batteries to worry about, interference in signal and picture, loads of extra software. Best tool for the job. Never get any complaints about IPD, never change it.

Am I right in thinking that this version is 6dof, and the white ones are 3dof? I'm quite interested in this, but I'd need to be sure that the gaming laptop that I just bought would work with it, as it doesn't have native display port but does have a usb c type that according to the manual supports display port over usb. Like you, I'm interested in a compression free VR experience. Anyway, keep up the good work RaMarcus, I wish you every success in your ventures!
@RaMarcus3 ай бұрын
Yes, this and the white E4 are 6DOF, only the C verison is 3DOF. You can download a system tester in their website to see if you're system is enough for it. Like you say, if USB C works is the key, and it's something you need to actually test. If you live anywhere near my arcade we could arrange a test if you come with your laptop.

@RaMarcus it's was kinda like the early days of the internet when you would meet people with interesting ideas and share those ideas.. where are now ppl share everything and nothing. Information overload and lack of cohesion on what VR is now and just what it can be. Nobody really pushing the envelope and it's just a computer with floating screens still rather than an intuitive virtual experience. We need new pll involved in VR that don't harken for desktop UI interfaces
@RaMarcus3 ай бұрын
Agreed.

Hey! Hope you're doing well! I just received a review sample and I'm having some problems. No way I can get the strap aligned like you did without tilting the display. It rather sits in my head like a hat and is very uncomfortable. I also have a dead pixel right in the middle of my viewport and I can see the edges of the screen left and right like some blueish distortions. Did you or your customers experience anything like that? Would be great to hear your opinion. Everyone said it's so comfortable, my experience rather is the opposite.
@RaMarcus2 ай бұрын
If you use the soft interface (my preference) make sure the back part is lower down on your head than you maybe first think. If you use a solid one, align it on your face first and then do the strap second to get the best position. As for the dead pixel, thats just bad luck. Hey in touch with customer support and maybe they can offer something. Depends on how much it bothers you. 🤞
@WatchMysh2 ай бұрын
@@RaMarcus @RaMarcus Thanks! No chance with aligning it first. The display will tilt up no matter what I do. :( I've just asked DPVR if they have any ideas. I'll try the wobbly rubber gasket thingy now. //edit: nah, no way. It seems like my display sits at a wrong angle or so. It's really weird.

@WatchMysh hmm, I have loads of people use them in my arcade and everyone usually comments on how light and comfortable it is. Maybe it is faulty 🤔

Is the software IPD adjustment better than the Rift S? It never got on with that one.
@RaMarcus3 ай бұрын
Honestly we've got it set to the default on our racing and never had anyone complain, I can't see an issue. I think it's very forgiving.
@ge27193 ай бұрын
just bought myself a second hand hp reverb g2 for £140. seems to be a pretty consistent supply of them going cheap, probably due to microsoft announcing the dropping of wmr support in like 2025. which there already seems to be a workaround for anyway... seems like a better option that this. got it so i can have a dedicated headset for my racing wheel and not have to mess around with moving my index.
@RaMarcus3 ай бұрын
For £140 that's a good deal. Even once support ends it'll still work, just won't get updates.

Ours is pretty reliable but we do man it and look after it. Those ones in seaside arcades get beat up bad, they can't take it and break.
@sandernote0893 ай бұрын
These have no real IPD adjustment. It says you can do it in software, but that’s just not how that works. At the price of these headsets, you might as well just buy a quest three. This is literally just a re-quest two with no IPD adjustment and no standalone features.
@RaMarcus3 ай бұрын
Yeah it's software IPD only. The compression free visuals is something still worth paying for I say, plus infinite battery life and a lighter headset. Depends what you value most, grest to have options.
@sandernote0893 ай бұрын
@@RaMarcus yeah I understand that the quest is going to have some artifacting, but the pancake lenses and higher resolution is going to make up for that my opinion. Even my headset doesn’t have any IPD adjustment but that’s because it’s specifically made for me. If you want the best PCVR experience, I would highly recommend the big screen beyond. I’ve tried tons of headsets and so far nothing has come even close to the comfort and clarity of that thing.
@RaMarcus3 ай бұрын
I've not had the pleasure of trying a Big Screen. The weight and new audio strap does make it look very good. Out of my budget for now but it's in my list to grab one when I can. 😉
