I don't understand why the dog wasn't put down. It's in terrible shape and probably really suffering. I love this show and the vets on it but it really disturbs me how many of the problems the vets treat are a direct result of unhealthy human inflicted breed standards. Breeding animals with brains don’t fit in their head or head shape that don’t allow them to breathe is cruel and abusive. I know it’s a bummer and not good public relations but I wish the vets would speak out against breeding sweet dogs who are condemned to a life of suffering.

As soon as I saw a Cav with neuro symptoms I said syringo. It's incredibly common in the breed. They're lovely, adorable dogs, but the breed should be allowed to die out just by not breeding them, or breeders should work to correct the skull issues with corrective breeding, as was done in the US with Dalmatians.

As someone who worked for breeders, I was a caretaker and I know it’s heart breaking, and I’m not trying to defend awful Breeder a because their are absolutely awful, but many breeders make it a mission to breed around or try to breed it out, and many heartbreaks happen but their are only so many good breeders, for many it’s just a quick buck, for others it’s a mission to remove these dieses from their breed.

I have a cat that had polyps in her left ear. The surgery was massive, and she lost hearing in that ear. Her balance is normal, but her symptoms were not as bad as Kami's. Her eyes didn't roll like that or anything. She was 12 when it happened; she's 14 now. She does go back every 6 months for a checkup, since this can return, and worse. So far so good though, and maybe Mysti will make it to 20. (Jan Griffiths).

Clipping nails is essential. I do it to my cats every 10 days or so. Those hooks can get so sharp. They do have a log to strop their nails on, and they make good use of it. It takes just a couple of minutes per cat (I have 3) to do both front and back nails. When started as kittens, it becomes a part of life. (Jan Griffiths).

I lost my cat many years ago, she was so special, I could NOT figure out why she stopped drinking and eating, and when I took her to the vet, as rarely as she went outside, he was certain she'd eaten a mouse/rodent of some sort, that had eaten poison.. I was too late, and there was no saving her at that point.. She hadn't been outside for days, and I had no poison - or need for it in my house. We had a large field behind our house, and many neighbors did complain of field mice, but fortunately we'd never had any problem.. My kitty was quite old, and so dehydrated, the vet said there was no way to make her better.... So I chose to end her misery, poor girl, she'd been such a good and faithful pet for so long...

So many purebred dogs have congenital health problems due to the way they’re bred, why are people still accepting to let these poor innocent dogs get disfigured by breeders to have a specific look for a breed? I prefer having my mutt that didn’t get lucky with the genetic lottery than a purebred dog filled with issues that could’ve been avoided

There was an outcry over where the breeding has gone with the German Shepherd breed. I live in an urban area that has seen nothing less than an explosion in "doddle dogs." "Wally Conron. The Australian man who introduced labradoodles to the world back in 1989 says the breed is his “life’s regret” - the spark for a proliferation of poodle hybrids that he claims has run amok with irresponsible breeding causing health problems. “I opened a Pandora’s box and released a Frankenstein’s monster,” he told the Australia Broadcasting Corp. in an interview last week."

@AnniCarlsson

And mix breeds can as easily take over all health issues from all breeds in them. People need to start researching what they buy and not just the cheap one from a breeder that not even bother to vaccinate or x ray their dog before breeding so hips and knees are good
@cosmicmuffin322
@cosmicmuffin322 2 жыл бұрын
The problem is with the breed itself though. "Purebred" is just marketing. What it really means is inbred. You cannot breed pugs, bulldogs, Cavalier King Charles spaniels, showline German shepherds, and many others, without the health problems that come with it. It's pure cruelty to put a certain look above an animal's health; these breeds should be banned. Hopefully German shepherds can still be saved though.
@rawexplorer8373
@rawexplorer8373 2 жыл бұрын
@@cosmicmuffin322 Oh really? There really is nothing wrong with the morphology of the cavalier. The problem in them is (and German shepherd) when people breed sick individuals. My cavalier is healthy and does agility, her mom is 7 and healthy, her granny is 11 and healthy. SM and heart murmurs are defects on an individual, not the design. Sadly though in bulldogs and pugs - those are really deformed by design and virtually no pug/bulldog can breathe normally. Every pug or bulldog I meet looks like a snorting piglet who can barely walk. What kind of a life is that? Pugs and bulldogs should be bred with longer noses and more athletic bodies - probably would need to be crossed with some other breeds. Chugs or puggles are pretty good.

@@rawexplorer8373 Due to it's distinctive head shape, about 95%-99% of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel have chiari-like malformations. Some remain asymptomatic for their entire life, but others develop symptoms like neck pain, collar sensitivity, crying when lifted, exercise intolerance, reluctance to play, head shyness, pain on defecation, and rubbing of the face, neck, or ears. Typically, clinical signs appear between 2 and 6 years of age; however, some cases have reported signs as early as 6 months. Sure, mutts can have it too, if you cross a CKCS with another breed, there's a 50% chance...cross some breeds that don't have the same proneness, the percentage drops considerably...Breed CKCS wth CKCS and it's almost 99%. But why would we need statistics when we can stay ignorant..You know 2 CKCS that are fine and other mutts that are not so of course your point should be more valid (though it's called a POINT for a reason..you don't have the whole picture)

My dog ate the mouse so fast, I jumped out of my seat and immediately went to go grab it out of his mouth but all that was hanging out was the tail and i tried to pull on it but it was too late! And I was mortified that I had even done that! I TOUCHED A MOUSE TAIL HANGING OUT OF MY DOGS MOUTH! Didn’t hit me until after he had swallowed it, everything happened so fast and I didn’t know what to feel. Disgusted, scared for my dog, confused as to why my dog would want to suddenly eat a mouse. I took him to the ER because we had rat bait around and my dog is a very small dog, so the likelihood of being poisoned was much higher.

Well, to ensure the well-being of our animals we have to stop being vain and stop breeding animals for their looks. Look what has become of English bulldog, pugs, German shepherd etc. It infuriates me how nasty and self serving people are. That lady's spaniel (the whole breed) is like that because of the breeding goals vain people "work hard" to achieve. That's animal cruelty. And people who purchase/seek for these mutilated breeds are no more than enablers. All this should be criminalized.

I have 8 dogs, 6 german sheppards, a Malinois and a pit mix....I was in the patio with them when the pit mix was looking for something, and BANG she trapped a mouse...she didnt ate it, then another dog came grab it chew it and spit it, then before I could even do something comes another and did the same...fortunly the mouse at my home are from the camp, no rat poison or anything, and we cant cause of the dogs, so we have this mouse cages to trapped them before the dogs try to chew them....I have another one, he is the eldest, his name is Odin, he is a sweetheart, one day I coudnt find him inside, I went out and there he was sleeping...around him was a bunch of feathers and bits of blood, he ate a bird....he fell from the stairs a few years ago and hurt his back, he suposly cant run nor jump...yeah sure....tell that to the bird...its truly ewky when they do that hahaha but I guess Im use to by now....but also the main reason we do not use any kind of rat poison, DDT, or chemicals around the house, all has to be total natural, cause trust me if they can they will eat EVERYTHING, the Malinois cant be left alone, he is a rescue and has 7 years old, he is such a sweet heart but he has cost me over $1,000 dollars in stuff he has ate, he dosent go for the cheap stuff, goes for the most expensive thing he can find but still I love the pack to death and woudnt trade them for anything, 6 of my dogs are rescue dogs, taken from very sad situations, or people that just abandon them with us, I am greatful for that cause they have such an amazing life, they are sooooo pamper little fellas

Ah this breaks my heart. Growing up we had a spaniel just like Toby and he was also constantly scratching his ear like that. Back then we had no idea that the breed had so many issues, he was just the most loveing and adorable dog there was. My sister as a baby could pull his tail as much as she wanted and never he showed even any sign of disaproval let alone agression (of course they were never alone unsupervised but we knew the dog and that he'd be gentle). Unfortunately we lost him at the very young age of 6 due to a congenital heart murmur even before we could have had the syringomyelia diagnosed

Why are comments stating they are taking your videos down? I am a veteran Rescuer and watching videos such as your helps people like me to better understand some of what we deal with. Especially till we can get an animal to see a vet.

This is one reason poison is so bad; it is indiscriminate. You don't know know who might get it initially or secondarily. And, Alex, if he doesn't bring up the whole mouse it is more likely he will get the poison.

By reading other comments I have just learned that this show will not be played anymore due to graphic detail. I am infuriated by this! This is my favorite thing to watch on UTube. I cannot even begin to share my dissapointment. Really unfair to Bondi Vet and us. Utube should be more programing like this and less accident crud. No more fake "good deed " videos and way more vet stuff. Less look at me being a dumb a$$, More real life solutions and experiences. Thank you Bondi Vet for the best show on UTUBE.
