Dr Bob Gill GP - Our NHS - from public to private

Bob Gill is a General Practitioner and NHS campaigner who directed the film The Great NHS Heist exposing how, over decades, our National Health Service has been packaged up and readied for privatisation by successive governments.
Real Media first interviewed Dr Gill five years ago, and much has happened since then to confirm his suspicions and validate his warnings.
Just two months ago, Boris Johnson’s government passed the new Health and Care Act which set up Integrated Care Systems, mirroring an American ‘managed-care’ model. Among its many shortcomings, it introduces greater power to Ministers to make future changes without parliamentary scrutiny, more barriers to face-to-face GP appointments, more private corporation influence over boards, and fewer legal requirements on standards of care.
In our new interview, Bob explains how the new Public Private Partnerships, with fixed budgets, will inevitably lead to staff exploitation and denial of care as well as the shrinking of unprofitable areas of the NHS like Accident & Emergency or mental health provision.
Dr Gill exposes how the media have failed to explain the real purpose of changes in NHS structures, and how they are scapegoating GPs, immigrants, the elderly and so on, rather than analysing the root cause of the crisis in the NHS, which is the government’s policy agenda.
The pandemic response was costly, very heavily privatised, and according to the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee a massively expensive waste of money, but it was also a major opportunity to maximise private profiteering.
Insurance companies, private medicine providers and pharmaceutical corporations all stand to profit from further privatisation, and we know that for natural monopolies like healthcare, this can only mean trouble. Bob Gill asks us to consider the water companies - they’ve not built a new reservoir in decades, nor new sewage treatment works, instead maximising shareholder dividends and pumping raw sewage into our rivers and seas. Translate that business methodology into healthcare, and you will have patients being denied care, as well as preventable suffering and death on a large scale, just as we see in the USA.
With the media, unions, and even charities such as Mind, Alzheimer’s Society and Age Concern, for a variety of reasons all failing to shout from the rooftops, Dr Gill is begging the public to wake up, educate your family and friends, get on national talk radio, and join grassroots movements to fight this utter betrayal by our politicians before it is finally too late.

But it won’t be. They are complicit in gaslighting the public. They keep to the tried and trusted dog whistles of stop the boats, asylum seekers (or “illegal immigration” as they continue to call it), Rwanda flights, barges, the cost of keeping asylum seekers in “4 star hotels” (as if!!! )the cost of living (.which IS a huge problem - created by the govt!). It’s the old 3 cup trick, keeping you focused on what is being presented to you, all the while picking your pockets, emptying your wallet and removing your watch. Soon you’ll have nothing and they will own your house and charge you 4x as much to live in it. You will work until you drop and it still won’t be enough. When you get sick and can’t work, you’ll be out of your home and into the gutter - and they’ll laugh all the way to the bank.

It is vital that you show this to everyone you know - your friends, your family, your neighbours. Because unless action is taken RIGHT NOW to stop this, and to renationalise our NHS, our children and grandchildren will end up with a US-style insurance-based scheme, and people will end up bankrupting themselves to treat serious injuries and illnesses. Discussed these very concerns with my GP recently on being "invited" for a face to face appointment. Informed that they are very busy with "phone calls" ... health centre was empty. Informed him that we are losing our NHS and reminded him that it is a precious resource that we need to save hoping that it would have some effect... not sure if it did sadly.

My grandmother and grandfather helped to start the nhs, my parents paid into it their whole life i have paid all my working life, I'm now aged 63, i had to take early retirement at 54, no benefits i've lived off a private pension and savings. I now need the nhs but I'm in so much pain with arthritis and various of ailments i will have to go private, why? What has happened to this system that promised three generations of my family care from cradle to grave? Great Britain doesn't exist anymore. Quite a bit has already been sold off but not made headlines - near where I live, a hospital was sold off and is now a housing estate. Blood plasma (free at source) was sold to a US hedge company who then sold it on to a Chinese company ... Google this stuff, please.

We need a National Referendum to allow the people to say whether they want a public owned and run NHS or not. The likelyhood is the majority of people would want a fully publicly funded and run NHS. Government then must oversee that this is provided without default to private health companies.

The problem is the Bevan model has become unsustainable due to the rocketing costs of medical advancement. The NHS model cannot exist in its original financial form of 1946. The funding model has to be changed.
