I‘m the same. I hate it to eat the same meals and it has to taste amazing. Otherwise I binge some „bad“ foods. And my solution is: I eat a lot of bowls. I buy a lot of different frozen veggies and fruits. After work I only have to make a really good-Tasting-healthy sauce and different carbonates and different proteins. Because of the „amazing“ sauce and the different Carbonates/proteins and different vedgies/fruits it’s not boring but I do not have to spent a lot of time while cooking. I only spent 30 minutes per day in the kitchen with the cleanup.

What condiments do you like to use?
@firstascent8032Ай бұрын
I can share some of what I do. While I generally stay away from condiments due to their tendency to be high in processed sugar…spices can change things up easily! Just think of what goes well with potatoes, for example…salt & pepper, garlic, dill, rosemary. And I love to add onions to any of those spices. One thing I do tend to put on my tofu & veggies is a bit of “smoked” soy sauce. I put a few drops of liquid smoke directly into the big bottle of soy sauce, and I love the flavour! Once in awhile, I’ll use a bit of teriyaki sauce, but read the ingredients to ensure it’s right for you, and don’t go too heavy.

I always give a thumbs up for your videos, Chelsea, even before I watch them, because I KNOW they're going to be helpful! Trade-offs are unarguably a part of every aspect of life, whether in the world of Economics or, in Science, the Law of the conservation of energy, and the unceasing continuation of Momentum! Everything has a cost, and according to Newton's second Law of motion every force has an equal and opposite force. You explaln things so well, and your focus on mindset is very welcome and so important. There are a whole lot of videos on You Tube which focus only on the chemical and biological aspects of good nutrition (which is, of course, important). But yours are pretty much the only ones which emphasise and provide guidance on how to identify and maximise the power of right thinking. As you have explained elsewhere, motivation alone is powerless unless it is energised by actively building good habits. I am so thankful to have come across your content.

So many good points here! Would I love to be the type of person who meal plans something fun and different each day, buys all whole ingredients, and does everything from scratch? Sure, actually, I WAS that person. When I was struggling and chronically underemployed. Now I actually work, and I’m okay not buying the broccoli I have to chop up myself. Because honestly, there’s an equally good chance it’ll wilt and I’ll get delivery. Since I accepted this and simplified my meal planning I’ve actually ordered way less delivery and wasted way less food in my fridge: win win.

Instead of having a meal prepped container, where I had fruit, veg, and a protein. Which would of kept me full. Love your videos. Today I am prepping for Thurs until Sunday. So I can enjoy my weekend!

I saw this auntie on here meal prepping a months worth of food for her family of seven. Does one shopping trip and spends the whole day cooking a few varieties of meals. Honestly, I'd love to do that, make frozen foods that I can keep in the freezer and not worry about cooking when I don't feel like cooking. Anything you see frozen or canned, you can definitely make at home, and you get to control what you add into it.

I love this. I’m absolutely not willing to make the trade off of eating boring meals, I’ve proved time and again that if my food isn’t appealing I just will not eat it, even if it’s the easiest choice. I will however sacrifice gym time for it lol. I work an active job and walking is my main transportation, so working out in a gym is nice but I’m already decently active just by existing. In another video you mentioned not eating salad dressing and that seems like a life not worth living for me 😂. I’m willing to put in time to make healthy and tasty salad dressings rather than eat a bald salad.

I love this video! It is just a reality check. If you think that healthy habits and lifestyle is just all hearts and flowers then you are setting yourself up for failure. Especially because it takes quite a bit of time to see the positive results that you have made sacrifices for. For me I use a bit of a sliding scale. Sometimes I carve out a bit more time for longer food prep and other times I grab the bag of pre-washed veggies. I probably should stick to one or the other for ease and consistency but I am not there yet. It also rolls over to my other choices too. It is a work in progress. Thank you again for your great talks. It inspires me to work towards better choices that make me happy.

❤❤❤Thanks so much for sharing Chelsea. You have made more sense than any plant base KZbinr. I have watched you make everything easy and simple ways to prep meals and keep it simple. I lost a lot of weight on a plant-based diet a few years ago and got rid of diabetes and high cholesterol And had so much more energy and felt great. My husband got throat cancer and we was always running to the hospital and doing this and doing that I’m not making a priority for myself eating a plant base lifestyle still but I was eating vegan junk food, and I gain some of the weight back Now I’m trying to get on the track of losing this weight again and I’m only gonna be watching your channel. I think when we get in the habit watching too many KZbinrs doing this and doing that it gets us all confused so I will be watching your KZbin videos on my weight loss journey. I’m very lucky right now not to be on any medication other than Copaxone for my MS I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2003 and doing great. I’ve been vegetarian most of my life and become vegan six years ago now I am eating whole food plant and that’s the lifestyle I prefer. I feel better eating a whole food base Lifestyle diet I noticed in some of your videos I’ve been watching your husband has MS as well. I think the only thing that has really helped me is living a clean life eating healthy, consistent, taking my copaxone medication and walking every day and using the rebound little trampoline and going to the YMCA for swimming and walking in the pool, thank you so much for taking the time to teach us all the right way to eat healthy and understand this way of eating I really enjoyed this video today. And then that will leave me with fruits, vegetables, protein, and low-carb. Small portions. I want to move at least twice a day. I want to run several times a week, at least 10 to 20 minutes each time. On Saturday, bouldering with my elder son Lukas, on Sunday swimming with my younger son Sascha. Being in bed from 21:00 to 9:00, reading in the evenings.

It only seems boring to someone who hasn't neuroadapted yet and is still consuming junk and animal foods.

I definitely sent this over to my husband to watch. I’ve lost weight in the past but after having four kids I gained it all back. Now I’ve lost 30lbs and I still have about 60 to go. These “trade offs” are really hard sometimes! My husband and I are trying to eat healthy together but we both prioritize different things. We need to have a chat and decide which trade offs we want to make together, and how we can do this with four kids who are addicted to junk food.
@RomanticizeReality3 ай бұрын
One of my biggest struggles is the trade off of more simple foods, and it creating more work for me as a mom because the rest of the family won't want to eat it (so it results in multiple meals being made instead of just one). I am perfectly content with simple, but my kids and husband don't like the "boring" food. I STILL haven't figured a way around this yet, and it usually ends up with me giving in and not doing what is best for my goals, in order to make the majority of the family happy.

@bonniemartin42323 ай бұрын
@@mnlw1363 I don't think it's a matter of "winning". It's very different when you have been eating right along with your family nutritionally bankrupt foods and then one day decide WE are all going to eat like mom. I don't think any one person should dictate to others how to eat no matter how nutritionally superior it may be. It creates resentment. Each individual has to determine their own path. It's differtent when you have very small children or like Chelsea, she raised them to eat this way. It's better to look at it from the perspective of how we can work together to get all our needs met. It will look different in every family. Depends on numerous factors.

I was told I needed a more protein heavy breakfast, because I was currently eating too many carbs/sugars, even things that were healthy like fruit and oatmeal. I decided to simplify my life and make something I liked occasionally before, as my go-to breakfast. I make about a weeks worth of tofu scramble at once- including tofu (which I flavor) bell peppers, baby spinach and a smaller portion of potatoes- purple if I can, or sweet potato. I typically (so I thought) get bored of food so I never thought to do this before but having a meal that I always know I need to buy things for, and I know it's in the fridge for me has made my life sooo much easier and I haven't gotten bored of it yet! I do alternate sometimes with something else but I have this about 80% of the time. I also have a side of fruit for breakfast, or fruit/a smoothie for lunch.

Great way to think about the choices we make. Sometimes though we are too focused on results and not the journey. Some people choose broccoli and potatoes because that’s what they like and other people choose it because they saw it on KZbin and don’t know how to cook. It’s ok to not meal prep efficiently from day one. Learn to cook. Learn how to choose ingredients. Get better over time. It’s like working out. You will suck at it in the beginning but if you are diligent, your form and focus improves. Also things are often on a scale. You can put low effort in microwaving your veggies or you can boil a large pot of water to blanch them. I boil one large pot then blanch bean sprout, take it out, blanch cabbage, take it out, blanch spinach, etc. it took more effort but not much more. You’re (royal you) not locked into one thing. Microwave sometimes, parboil sometimes, slow cook sometimes.

I’m not particularly bored with it. Where I struggle is consistency with my diet/calorie deficit. I love the logic and breakdown of this video. It is so hard sometimes! I was doing so well last school year, and then summer hit with my kids out of school, and I feel like all my progress back-peddled. Now I feel like I am starting back at level 0 again. It sucks, but I just am telling myself that it was a learning process that I will make sure doesn't happen again next summer. The hard part is feeling that I am a year behind now in making progress towards my goals by back-sliding. It is what it is though, and I just have to start hitting it hard again to recover.

One thing I've realised about things like prepared vegetables is that you can use only as much as you want, rather than being tempted to use more because - well, imagine that the amount of diced onion you need for a recipe is only ¾ of the onion you have to hand. Are you going to save the remaining quarter or just chuck the whole lot in? If you use the whole onion, maybe you'll have to add more of the other ingredients to compensate, so you end up with a larger portion. Obviously, a quarter of an onion isn't going to kill you, but the knock-on effects take you in the wrong direction, and also tend to get you into the habit of finishing stuff off.
