I was one of the lapsed fans who hadn't watched wrestling in least 15 years when AEW came out and I don't know why, but I just watched the first Dynamite and It gave me wrestling back. One of the criticisms was always women, and I get it. Brit wasn't my favorite performer at the start. She for sure, had a rocky start and had room to grow. I remember watching dark back then and seeing people being really critical of her in the chat and thinking that was a bit unfair. The thing is...she has improved so much. Kenny was right. She was the right person for this match. It was a match worthy of being mentioned next to Trish and LIta's legendary match. We've known Thunder was a special for a long time but Brit proved herself ready to be right there with her. Hearing her talk about all her fears and anxiety....and seeing how well she pulled that match off in spite of all that, is giving me chills all over again. Bravo on the best women's match in forever, regardless of promotion.

All the lapsed fans who used to watch wrestling tuned in for the first 2 weeks, hence the 1.9M & 1.3M viewers. They were so insulted by it that they tuned back out. Hence why it's only averaging 765,000 viewers now. They promised a "Sports based, old school, wrestling show meant to bring back the lapsed fans who quit watching years ago because they felt like their intelligence was insulted." What they gave was the exact same stupid shit that turned long time fans away from the product in the first place.

Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. needs to have the AEW Women's Championship! She absolutely deserves the belt, since she really IS the face of AEW, now (gender aside). I have been a huge fan of hers - especially since she turned heel. The match with Shida, where she got her nose broken was my favorite match last year. I don't think Shida has had a better match, since. Sorry Britt got hurt, because THAT would have been a great, long feud. She is like Chris Jericho in his prime, bringing out the best in their opponents, and THAT is pure in-ring magic. She is such a great performer, and a likeable heel. Her character holds up with the beloved heels that have come before her, to where she wouldn't have to change her persona in a huge way to become a face. Like Ric, Steve, The Rock - all the legends who were really just themselves whether face or heel. And she certainly knows how to sell to the camera like they can. The camera loves her, never more evident than during the Light's Out match. She IS light's out! Her wrestling, her character, her look, her promos - she is the total package. I daresay she is my favorite female wrestler of all time, or at the very least on my Mt. Rushmore (why don't we talk about a women's Mt. Rushmore?). Great things ahead for Ms. Baker, in and out of the ring, and so well deserved. Thank you so much for this! Much respect for all you do, and keep rockin' the 'casts!

Think to when the pandemic began, and how weak the women's division was at the time, especially with Riho and others overseas and not available, and some injuries/illnesses left the cupboard pretty bare. Now think of how far it has come! Britt Baker, Tay Conti and Anna Jay have improved by just leaps and bounds. Abadon and Leyla Hirsch have come along nicely. Jade and Red Velvet topped all expectations. Getting excellent veterans like Serena Deeb and Thunder Rosa have provided great matches. I know a lot of people dislike the lengthy Dark shows, but they have been invaluable in getting in-ring time for the women I just mentioned, but also all the others, from KiLynn King to Madi Wrenkowski to Alex Gracia...
