Dr Cat offers a ton of Free info on her KZbin site. Having fibromyalgia and CFS etc, I listened to every video before deciding that her info was helpful enough for me to sign up for her brain retraining class. I’ve learned so much about my biology, self care and self regulating while living back into life. I’ve come so far over the last several months and continue with the program to keep growing and for the first time in 8 years I feel I have a chance at getting back into a productive and full life. I’ve listened to other brain retraining mentors and felt the most resonance with Dr. Cathleen King’s approach. Tbh I first cursed them all! If they felt better doing this “mind stuff “ than they really weren’t sick like I was - fast forward, after trying everything else - I landed in Dr. Cat’s mentorship, learned the science behind it, and now with the guidance she and her community offers, I am being empowered to live my life again. Consider this info given in this interview with curiosity, not judgement. If I would have done that, I’d have been through this years ago. ⭐️💚🌸

How long did it take you to get well ?
@PostApocalypseWildflower
@PostApocalypseWildflower 2 ай бұрын
@@lorikendall2213 Hey there, the short answer is I started to feel better within the first year. I am now at year 2 and feeling so much better, with more mental, physical and EMOTIONAL energy, regulation and clarity. The long answer- I had a good deal of trauma, grief and pain I was processing and was sleeping A LOT because of the chronic fatigue and medication side effects. It’s been around 2.5 years for me so far. I feel so much better, and am now in a stage of getting more physical movement / somatic recovery. I’d been mostly bedbound / chair bound for nearly 8 years, so this feels amazing to me 🙂 Others have done it in less time. I still had ongoing major life *stuff* going on while doing my best to stay as consistent as I could manage with the program. The techniques Dr Cat and her team teach were incredibly helpful while going through that *stuff* that was still happening in my life. So for me, I’d say the first year (and first run-through of Primal Trust brain retraining) was kind of a fog-clearing for me, and thankfully, a learning of techniques I was able to use right away to help calm my nervous system with the events of that time period - again, incredibly helpful. I then went into another round of the brain retraining course and expanded my use of the other tools offered - Somatics, sound healing, (highly recommend both!) some live community sessions. I was still kind of shell-shocked from things and so I didn’t want to participate in the community much although if I were to be in a healing community setting Primal Trust Academy is hands-down the safest feeling, most empathetic/loving /compassionate and welcoming community I’ve encountered, and I may eventually become more active in there. They also have a huge healing video library. It has been great to get back into some writing and other forms of self care - something that I’ve not been able to do for 6 years prior to the Primal Trust experience. Everyone’s journey is on a different timeline, that was something I learned through this. That doesn’t mean anyone has it easier or harder, or are more or less worthy of recovering, it’s just a matter of where each of us are in the healing process, and in life in general. I am happy to answer anything else you might want to know. I wish you and yours much grace, peace, healing, and love ❤️‍🩹 -Vera

After reading you book I could finally accept having ME/CFS because I would not accept having an incurable illness. The first side of ME/CFS that I discovered while doing some research, was the dark one, the one full of despair, hopelessness, pain, agony and so much more and so I stopped doing more research simply to protect myself, bc I wanted to believe that one day, I will fully recover. And because -as crazy as it sounds- I learned and gained so much thanks to ME/CFS. And then I found a proof of recovery in form of your book on Amazon, and I finally could admit to myself and others that I‘m currently dealing with ME/CFS. I just want to thank you for all that you’ve done so far and all the insights I get because of all these beautiful souls sharing their journeys with you. ❤

Once I read about the glymphatic system in the brain, I realized the interconnectedness of my nervous system and immune. I began conscious breathing through out the day especially while working or doing household chores. Doing so provides calming energy to my cells, my body, my mind. Years of undiagnosed Lyme/co-infections caused a constant pattern of "fight mode". It was as if I had no control over my bodily systems... especially breathing. I still struggle with it but I am able to manage the pattern since making myself breathe deeper and more fully. You are spot on about finding and honoring your own rhythm. I can no longer push myself to exhaustion as I did when I was younger. I can no longer recover from exhaustion. Appreciate the video. Hopefully ppl who need it will find it...and continue their own research about how to take care nervous systems.

Thanks Raelan and Dr Cat. 💛 All very interesting and relatable too, with receiving a number of diagnoses etc. So sorry you both had to suffer for so long, but it's awesome you're now recovered. I've been trying to find a cause for my fatigue for nearly 5 years now. I've been diagnosed with HPA axis dysfunction, low cortisol, depletion of some hormones, thryoid dysfunction, heavy metals toxicity, mold toxicity, food allergies & gut health dysfunction. I do have a good Functional and Integrative MD and she has talked about the mind body connection, nervous system and brain training too, but I haven't focused as much on this side of things. After this interview, I now feel inspired to. I love the advice of living our best life for today, and that we are in control of managing our cellular health and the examples given for doing this. Thank you both for all you have shared. 🙏

I totaly agree with you both. My hypersenitive nervous system was astablisht at my childhood as well. Living all my live from the basic school till now in stress mode, then I was hit with covid and tada, I got long covid since 12 month now, what actually it is a defunction of the nervous system. Everything makes sense now for me. All the years I was suffering and didnt know it, I thought like all of us, that it was normal to live a life alway at the top of achieving things. So, I have to change my lifestyle, my thought pattern and rewire my brain, I guess its not gonna be easy, but at least I know now where to start. Its gonna be a long and defficult yourney, which I have to go, cause I whant a better, a greater life then I had before.

I dont disagree with nervous system regulation. I diagree with the idea it comes out of nowhere and is the root cause. I had no trauma, no problems, and was absolutely loving my life when my moldy home and possible lyme destroyed my life 15 years ago. It took me that long to uncover the truth. Brain retraining is a powerful tool for symptoms but doesnt address the host of abnormal immune labs I've had with CIRS testing.

Hi! I was just diagnosed with Lyme after 6 years bedbound and a year bedridden with symptoms I wouldn't wish even on putin. Your story resonates so much that I had to leave a comment. Even though I absolutely can't imagine living with it 15 years, but obviously I speak from my experience. People (parents, doctors) never considered any physical cause and blame my mental health, which was robust before I got sick and I've always been happiest person in the room. Tim, do you mind sharing how did you start coming out of such nightmare?

This pisses me off quite some bit to be honest. This is a very “doctorate” approach, when a doctor has gone through something they suddenly “know” things on a “whole other” level than anyone else, where their experience becomes the solution to it all. Granted, stress on a cellular, sympathetic autonomic level is a fact. It’s a huge part of it. But it is also in many cases a _response_ to what’s going on. She states here that perhaps prayers, changing your diet and so forth is what perhaps have made one person better - but relates it all to a simplistic idea that it was the mindset behind all of this that they actually “fixed”. I think this is an irresponsibly simplistic approach to all of this that again: perhaps doesn’t look to the root cause. Perhaps _she_ became better through changing her mental response,.. But! Perhaps that was what was missing _for her._ Perhaps she had gotten to that point, that stage, where this was the thing that she had to overcome to finally get better. ME/CFS derives from a lot of things - researchers are quite unanimous about that today: viruses, bacteria, vaccine, trauma. Those are all separate root causes depending on what _you_ have gone through. Those needs addressing. Then there’s the effects that ME/CFS have had on you: the gut imbalances, overgrowth of bacteria, viruses, neurological inflammation and so forth. Getting well from getting hit by a car isn’t simply by removing the car and addressing the emotional trauma. You have to deal with all its consequences. ME/CFS also causes an actual impact that needs healing too. Depending on your constitution, the impact of ME/CFS differs. By saying that _you_ need to take responsibility for your emotional response (not blaming you for getting ill), still says to _everyone:_ if you don’t get better, it’s because you can’t handle your autonomous response. This is victim blaming again, just on a _whole other level,_ by a doctor nonetheless for which this worked on for her. That can add a whole new level of blame on the patient. It also says that ~”forget about the fire you’re standing in right now, what’s wrong is how you respond to it emotionally.” That’s narcissistic. I get it though: this doesn’t come out of wanting to do bad but a willing to help. And the autonomous nervous system and the sympathetic/parasympathetic fight or flight response is a *huge* deal that needs addressing (without people saying it’s in your head). This needs to highlighted more. However, this isn’t it all just because it worked for her. There are a lot more factors. I’m suffering from severe ME/CFS myself for 20 years, bedridden for 12 in total. Quite active for 8 after recuperating from a lot of both physical ailments and mental response addressing. Unfortunately, I’m back to square one now, with no knowledge as to why. Something is severely wrong that my body can’t handle. And it’s not the sympathetic response system primarily. Sadly. I wish it was,..

Raelan, when you were listing your diagnoses, none of them besides lyme are actual diagnoses. They are unsolved symptom clusters. CIRS can be the cause of all of them, and the difference is we know exactly what causes it, how to diagnose it objectively, and how to treat it. CIRS is not "just another diagnosis." The area of the brain most affected by it is the hypothalamus which is the control center for the autonomic system. Ive spoken to too many people that DNRS or Gupta has failed, because they attempted it in the same environment they were sickened in.

Have you checked out Raelans list of recovery stories? There's 80 odd videos there, a stack of them with people who are not coaches as well as interviews with coaches. I find all of them helpful, even if I do or don't look at the programs offered. I can understand why people would become coaches after overcoming such challenging suffering and seeing others still struggling with it. I recall Raelan's own course had/has a free payment option which is pretty wonderful. Hope you find things to support you to feel better. To Raelan, thankyou so much for all the work you have done to bring us options! I especially appreciate it at times when I don't have the energy or mental space to research for myself.

I think Stuart brings a good point. It seems like a recurring theme sometimes when you listen to recovery stories. There's a couple things that bother me in the interviews with the coaches (and that can also be applied to people who were sick, took on a program and then decided to become affiliate themselves). On one hand, I'm not questionning the intentions of people that creates paid program. I am encline to believe they really try to help others. And it seems reasonable to me that if you work hard on something, you should be compensated for the time you put. But I don't think that good intentions are sufficient when we are talking about serious illness. On the other hand, talking from my perspective here, if I would have find a solution to my own expression of the chronic fatigue syndrome, I don't think I would try to sell it as a fit all cure. It would also feel kind of odd to have people engage their time and money to find out if it would work for them too. Moreover, there is a bias effect that might take effect on the person who buys the program. They want it to work because they are desperate, so they convince themselves that they feel better. And that is the greatest danger in my opinion. Finally, I am longing to find a program made by benevoles, that is rooted in science, and that is not trying to sell me on something. A program that I don't need to trust right away because I am putting money in, something that I can try out for myself without having to blindly trust or to battle with my own bias effect. For all the people out there who are dealing with chronic fatigue, I wish you the best in your recovery. Take care.
