of course it’s possible to get fit after 40, but acting like there aren’t legitimate reasons it gets more difficult (um, hormonal changes?!) is not doing the vegan movement any favors. I admire Coach Daphne, but I think this message is oversimplified and potentially harmful.
@TheVeganGym9 ай бұрын
@@debbiedaymoon6145Thank you for watching 🙏 We did not say that getting fit doesn’t get more challenging as you age. And I’m not sure what we talked about that could be “potentially harmful.” Our goal is to empower and educate all vegans, regardless of age, gender, or fitness level, on their path to becoming the best versions of themselves 💪🌱
@debbiedaymoon61458 ай бұрын
@@TheVeganGym a main takeaway from the conversation is that improving your lifestyle choices (eating, movement, sleep etc) will have a positive impact on your health and/or physique. Sometimes it doesn’t! and that leaves many vegans feeling they’re doing something wrong, aren’t trying hard enough, or just failing in some way. It’s harmful bc if somebody is not a vegan for ethical reasons, it is inevitable they will not only give up on it, but now spread the message that being vegan “didn’t work.”

Awww hearing her talk about her dad and how he called her his wing man 😥 I lost both of my parents in October from preventable disease. It's hard losing a parent. No matter how old you get, you still look to your parents for comfort. They inspire me to be better than they were because I don't want my kids to go through what I went through.

I'm so sorry for your loss ❤ That's incredibly difficult. Kudos to you for channeling that hardship into becoming the best version of yourself for your kids. That's wonderful 😊💪🌱

Thank you for a great chat. Dr. Bascom, you have inspired me to keep working hard in my fitness journey. I’m 52 and have been vegan for 11+ years now but I need to get more disciplined with my exercise. Appreciate the ‘kick in the butt’ to keep moving & improving 😉🙌🏻 Many thanks from the North 🇨🇦😊

GO the Vegan Gym. Daphne,GO Girl 😊. Crickey,there were quite a few gold nugget takeaways in that interview. I wish the Vegan Gym was in Australia and I would sign up my two lovely daughters to be coached by Daphne. My daughters are 53 and 50 and despite being aware that "success leaves clues" have not twiged that the fact their parents, 81 and 79 and plant based for the last 30 years,are healthy,fit,active,happy,content,NO health issues or medications just a B12 supplement might leave some clues. I just completed my 79th trip around the sun and decided to celebrate with a backwards somersault off Moona Moona creek bridge,it's on KZbin and only 2 minutes. You might get a laugh 😂 and like the punch line at the end. Davo 😊.

This is awesome!!!! I have adopted the plant based lifestyle along with exercising and I am loving and living every moment of it. I too, like Dr. Bascom said, feel if I had known about the health benefits of this lifestyle...I could of helped my mom and she would have lived a little longer. With that I am now on a path to help those in my family and people in whom I connect with.

"aspire to inspire" beautifully said Daphne. I'm taking the challenge to sculpt my body into a lean machine. I'm 48, vegan 12 years, and qualified in nutrition. Just needed a kick in the butt with that resistance (eliptical and walking aren't enough😉), and a few tweeks to my macros (a little less fats and calories). Thank you. The whole Vegan Gym team are definitely inspiring!

Dr Daphne said, "I'd rather spend an hour with someone talking to them about how to prevent disease or how to reverse disease than spend 15 minutes with them, write them a prescription, see them back in three months with the same thing they had the first time they saw me. That's not healthcare". That's the private-equity-driven American healthcare system, though.

Love the concept. I have watched your videos for over a year and use several of your recipes. I had an onboarding call but my idea of onboarding and the person I conversed with was different. This was my first interaction with your service. I was still in the consideration, learning absorption stage when the person felt since I watched the videos no presentation was going to be done just answering questions from the videos and closing of a sale. I think I would have been more confident my needs would have been met if there were questions of what my needs were and examples of how your VSA could or would address those needs and match a trainer to.

God she doesn't look 57 ( i know ...external appearance can be deceiving.. but she looks so good ...my friend's father looked so healthy and all muscular but he died of heart attackat the age of 54 ... His mother on the other hand has always been super skinny and she looks so pale (has always looked pale and frail... She eats so lil ...not anorexic but thin ...no curves) .. his mom lived with the family..but still does ...going strong at the age of 80.. she's not super strong but really flexible.. doesn't have any movement issue.. or Alzheimer's disease (which is so common nowadays) . She never smoked or drank alcohol (she didn't eat red meat or white for that matter.. had fish occasionally...fruits and veggies regularly.. 2 eggs twice a week.. fruits and veggies formed the bulk of her meal and animal products were almost not existential.. (we find her habits to be really quirky... Interestingly enough..she doesn't enjoy sweet greasy stuff.. not much salt.. i love chips but she doesn't.. that part was not believable to me)..
