Wow. I am in total shock. This interview has TOTALLY INSPIRED me. You have to understand, I was put into surgical menopause back in 2017 via uterine ablation. I still had my uterus and adnexa; however, this year I had a much needed total hysterectomy. Over the last few months, I've battled weight gain, sleepless nights, night sweats and EVERYTHING Dr. Bascom mentioned. I thought I was loosing my mind; and I'm a very happy person. She has answered many questions that a lot of doctors fail to answer. THANK YOU, The Vegan Gym, for sponsoring this interview. I look forward to joining Dr. Bascom's master class. I need this type of help. I'm so happy!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

I’m 48. Was anti HRT for years. I caved, I’ve been on it for 30 days now, and it is THE BEST decision I have made. Vegan 17 years now, and adding both HRT (no testosterone) and L-threonate magnesium… amazing.

@@darlenedrivera165 I have been in the health and fitness arena for well over 20 years, and noticed that I was losing my love for my lifestyle. I also would sweat for no apparent reason, and noticed things about me were changing, but I felt I could fight them off with my normal approach, diet and exercise. I never take medication of any kind unless it’s for surgery. Like I had a spinal fusion, and had no choice there. Otherwise, I’m not a smoker, drinker, sunbather, etc. never have been. I like to be very in tune with my body, so I just knew something wasn’t right when my natural approach was helping, but not curbing all the symptoms. I thoroughly researched her for years. I was still apprehensive despite hearing great reviews, and speaking to many specialist around the world. I slow travel, and was seeing some of the best doctors for this specific reason, and I still never took it. I regret delaying it for so long. It’s been a game changer. The sweats are gone, I’m back in the gym training doing what I love, although not to the level I use to do to my spinal fusion, and my life just feels normal again. I take duofemme, along with vitamin D, a good multi vitamin, L-threonate, I eat a plant based diet , I do calisthenics twice a week, and low intensity steady state cardio on an incline on the treadmill daily, as well as walking. I hope you do not wait as long as I did, because there truly is no need to. Give yourself the relief you deserve. Wishing you all the best.

No one in my family can even give me any advice. I've just changed my diet and exercise routine and have noticed the changes. I stopped eating meat, limited dairy ( when I don't eat dairy at all I feel even much better) and I focus on more resistant training instead of cardio. I've lost weight and the menopausal symptoms are way better to almost none. I got in my head that why should I put hormones from foods in my body If I have a hormonal imbalance.

Thanks for all this vital information. I've been on a vegan lifestyle for 25 years. I had to stop using soy products 13 years ago because every time I had soy, I felt bloated and severe pain in my lower abdomen. I went to the GYN and had a sonogram and was diagnosed with 3 fibroid. I went to my Iridiologist and he told me to get off the soy. My friend who's a herbalist told me the same thing. I stopped using the soy and ALL the discomfort disappeared. Then I had a craving for soy milk. For 1 month I had a cup of soy milk daily. The symptoms returned. After cutting out the soy completely, I've NEVER had any issues with the fibroid again and they shrunk. I've never had hot flashes but I gained stubborn belly fat, weight and yes, I got breastises!! 😅😅😅😅 Everyone's body is different. Also, please make sure that the soy products you use are NOT GMO All the best on your menopause journey.

I had the same problem - for 8 years post-menopause! It was getting worse as time went on. I finally found out that insomnia can be one of the symptoms and got on hormone replacement (was afraid of HRT and really didn’t even look into it previously). It has helped me. You may want to ask your doctor if you could try HRT and see if it helps.

The one thing I feel was not discussed was medical gaslighting around menopause. I tried to discuss perimenopause symptoms with my obgyn and was curtly dismissed and treated like I was an idiot for even asking. I am not the only one. This happens to many women. Trying to find an informative and knowledgable doctor for peri menopause of menopause is difficult. There is a training gap for obgyns and primary care. Some of us are trying to help ourselves and are being dismissed.
@TheVeganGym8 ай бұрын
Thank you for bringing up such an important issue. Medical gaslighting around menopause is, unfortunately, a reality for many women, and it can significantly hinder the quality of care and support we receive. Your experience of being dismissed when discussing perimenopause symptoms with your ObGyn is sadly not uncommon, and it highlights a critical gap in medical training for Obstetricians/Gynecologists, Primary Care Providers, Cardiologists, Orthopedic Surgeons, and many other healthcare providers. The good news is that more healthcare providers are becoming educated about perimenopause and menopause. The Menopause Society (and similar organizations globally) is working to bridge this gap by offering resources and tools on its website to help women find knowledgeable menopause practitioners. I highly recommend checking out their provider directory www.menopause.org/ (www.menopause.org/) to locate a professional who is better equipped to support you. Additionally, if you are interested in a plant-based approach, the Plantrician Project and the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) provide a directory of plant-based providers who align more closely with your healthcare values. You can explore their resources at plantrician.org/ or www.lifestylemedpros.org/home. Thank you for sharing your experience 🙏🏾. Please know that we are here to support you every step of the way. With gratitude, Daphne

Bingo. I am so pissed at classic medicine right now. It took a nutritionist and acupuncturist to beg for a full iron panel to show I am dangerously anemic. Regular doctor said I was “fine.” Low iron = lack of oxidation = inability to break down foods = weight gain! Plus, I was SO tired. But again, regular physicians tell us, “this is life, no big deal.” 😖
