I'm literally having such a hard day today and really needed something to help me. I've been watching and listening to anything I could find, anything that could give me a bigger perspective. I'm literally crying as I write this. God I soo needed to hear this 🙏🙏. I don't want to keep worrying about the future, I just can't deal with doing that anymore. I'm going to save this video and watch it everytime I feel really really down and stuck 🙏 I wish everyone reading a great day 🙏

I'm with you! Let me put the past to the left and my future to the right, shut the sides and I'll walk forward in the present only, what goes on outside to the left and right has got nothing to do with me. I'm ok, as Hawkins says, leave it up to the higher power.

Either when we've meditated lots or just have a really great day our ego's (that includes our history) temporarily are on an all time low; stand-by mode if you will. Don't you just notice that when you feel really good, your self awareness is practically gone and things just seem to work perfectly. One of the strongest motivators to let go of the past is simply wanting to feel good. To get rid of suffering. From that moment forth it only takes the intent to do so and your past will just evaporate. Holding on to the past doesn't make sense. Either you'll keep reminding yourself of all the bad things, which will make you suffer, or you keep reminding yourself of all the good things in the past which will make you avoid living in the present.

As you say let it be. If you can. My problem with his answer is that we are to accept on faith that we are receiving karma for something we cannot remember doing in a past life, ie: When babies are born with horrible problems and suffer so much I find it hard to believe that this is their karma from some wrongdoing in a past life.
@maryhall37223 жыл бұрын
@@lauraoldermanart6784 I agree. There is so much in traditional karma theory that might not be true. It is speculative, but could it be possible that a soul may have a karmic contract with another and agree to be their child with physical difficulties in this lifetime to further their mutual spiritual development? This is no answer to their suffering, but it at least takes away that blame factor inherent in the traditional karmic theory ("well he/she must have been bad in a previous life to deserve this". ) and it allows for a more compassionate view?
@lauraoldermanart67843 жыл бұрын
@@maryhall3722 Thank you for that thoughtful response. I know Carolyn Myss has talked about these kinds of “karmic contracts.”Again, I struggle to accept things “on faith,” having been brought up in a fundamentalist religion. It makes it too easy for others to dismiss suffering as the result of sin or karmic choices, and to manipulate people. This is only slightly better than the Judeo-Christian view that “the wages of sin are death.” It seems to be a cruel and inefficient path to awakening. Science, medicine and psychology do a better job of dealing with suffering, but of course have their limitations. More honest and enlightened (imho) to say sometimes things just happen. We often don’t know why there is suffering, but we can cultivate compassion and use whatever resources, abilities and talents we have to ameliorate it. This at least helps others and can give one’s life meaning. Is there cause and effect? Science shows there is. When we cannot find a cause, we admit we don’t know and keep looking for evidence of one. For that reason, I find it perplexing as to why this doctor, a person of science, offers karma as an answer.
@lauraoldermanart67843 жыл бұрын
@@maryhall3722 Fundamentalist AND military! I’m wondering how you came to Hawkins work. Was it just by accident or are you moving away from your upbringing and looking into Buddhism? Well I guess that would be a long and interesting conversation! My quarrel is not so much with Hawkins, although he’s not my cup of tea; still I won’t throw the baby out with the bath water. It’s the karma problem, which sounds ok on the surface but seems to keep us on a merry go round of perpetual suffering. Anyway, we already seem to agree here. I don’t have anything better than “things just happen and it’s up to us to try and figure out what we can do about them, how we can use them to reduce suffering for others, and how can we have peace in their midst. Hawkins claims to have awakened so I guess I’ll at least consider his words on karma, but like so many things, it would mean more if I had my own realization. Thanks for giving me a chance to express these thoughts and ideas! 💜

what an eloquent way of saying your problems are created by your thoughts which block truth, that only God is and you are as God created you, perfect, loved, complete and worthy. This is realty and cannot be threatened. Be still and listen for only the thoughts you share with God are real.

"Be still and listen for only the thoughts you share with God are real." Hmmm...I find myself reading this over and over. I want this. I want to become aware of my real thoughts... the ones that I share with God...and I want them to become soooooo loud that they drown out all the other thoughts.

It must be really difficult trying to describe a completely different mind set, the free and empty mind. I don’t believe there is one simple way to stop the mind you just have to be willing to go deeper and deeper and face all the ego traps. As for instant Karma if you can for a few moments realise that there is nothing that needs forgiving, all is perfect and extend those few moments throughout the day you will be releasing the need for future Karma and helping dissolve what karma you have left.

@Anna_Banana1232 жыл бұрын
Fully agree! I have had a moment of enlightenment in my life. Or at least I imagine this is what it feels like. I realized, the hardest part is to describe what it is like to people who are not there yet. Like, you know when you do a slow mo on iPhone. That’s kind of what is like, just in real time and you see, hear and feel everything at the same time, including how the world is moving through space and turning and the energy of the other planets and the universe. It’s just all clear in that moment. And this is just the explanation of the concept in extremely rough words.

What if you regret the past that you created (not blaming others) Hmmmm This does not ring much true here. How is this Gods problem if He did create us - the responsibility for how we live cannot be pushed back on Him I’m not familiar with this man’s work but I’ve heard all the raves. Not sure this clip does justice to all the hoopla.
@leloelela Жыл бұрын
Regretting a past you created can be useful if it prevents you from repeating the same error in the future. If primitive man ate a toxic plant and got sick, he would regret eating it and never eat it again. Our mind is trying to prevent the repeating of errors, but there's a line between learning a lesson and self-flagellation. There's little use in becoming your own torturer. Learn from your mistakes, and make an effort to not repeat the mistake again. When you fall off the wagon, the only thing for you to do is get back on. 👍🏻
