This show constantly proves, that the Internet is not the sulfuric hellscape of unbridled hatred many people make it to be, but can be a place to share, evaluate, learn, grow and come together even through the hardest and most difficult parts in life. I can not stress enough how much especially this show helped me to come clean with myself, my surroundings, my past, and ultimately, my present.

Such good information. I’m sure 50 years ago, I entered my long term relationship wearing rose colored glasses. Fortunately, we met our challenges with counseling and recovery and most of all, I had a partner willing to do the work with me. I count myself lucky indeed. I love Mark Twain and I heard he once said “Love is knowing how to hurt someone and NOT doing it.” I’ve never heard it said better. Thanks so much for this interview.

When I hear this it makes me think that when we become parents we should have mandatory parenting classes to avoid damage control later. When I became a mother in my mid 30's all I knew of parenting was keeping the baby safe, protected fed and healthy. At no time was a child development class or instruction offered to me concerning child rearing. I wish I had known. The example I had from my parents was basically just to get through the day and as children we were to do as we were told.

I now am getting close to retirement and this is another big step where I feel deep fear, excitement and unknows. So I keep having inner conversations with other personalities or who ever inside me to try and figure this out. My Mom tells me what SHE thinks I should do and as always in past , I usually do what I am told. I do not have religion in my back ground. Only went to church with Mom until I was about 5 but I think I was just a “purchase” that was paraded to others for my parents benefit.

I just had a desire to be at peace and my whole life has been a process of making peace through various relationships (work, family, etc) even when the other person seems to desire the opposite (and some miraculous things have happened). I once wrote about a situ that unfolded in front of me at a Reenacting event weekend. We were dressed up in Victorian clothing ready to see the public. We were a group of people who liked to spend our weekends doing that. A new couple invited to join us were introduced. The woman started being happy standing by her newly married husband. And then she launched into her history with her previous spouse and spent at least 10 minutes among us, a group of strangers, verbally recreating her previous traumatic marriage. I carefully looked at her new husband. He heard every word, he knew them well, like a badge of sorrow. He looked so sad. I then realized if she didn't release that former trauma, she would lose her now husband as well. He looked so eager when they first walked up. I have no idea if they got beyond that together or not. I never forgot that.

In fairness, I didn't view the entire video although the title drew me with a very clear mindset, "Don't bring childhood wounds into adult relationships" has a psychological gas lighting after effect, because it was and remains an outcome effect of the way our patriarchy chose to invalidate the realities of how it guides and misguides, children who become adults and parents, over centuries way in a design still being used to day. Our patriarchy can and in my opinion, must reform their Hippocratic Oath and validate the realities of neuromolecular fragmentation, organic augmentation and developmental arrest(s)..engaging in a capacity to invert its choice that is still calling the effects, of a lack of healthy prosocial knowledge, of disintegrative/integrative unresolved resolvable's and the necessity to ethically understand what has happened to them, is happening to them and will need to happen to them, as they continue to heal...disease and defect mindedness. It isn't a mystery that folks sit in the chair of a therapist or psychologist or psychiatrist or friend or theological person or stranger and talk about what...they're childhood, perhaps knowns to them or even as unknowns, become knowns...so it is a systemic effect of an approach that refuses still, ideological and intellectual forward led reformation.

I think this book is full of judgemental insights. About Good and Bad behaviour. David Richo is in my opinion not aware of the fact that practicing adulthood is not authentic. It could have been a good book if it was written with the intention to remind us of the inner adult we already are. The self is the adult. The self is underneath our protective parts we work with every day to protect us from exposure of shame and guilt. These are not bad parts. It is not something we have to get rid of and make a lot of effort to become the adults. Also not to suppress these parts that we ourselves gave the task to protect our inner wisdom and adulthood. We have to reconnect with these parts that protects us , work with it not against it. So we can become whole again like the father, the son, and the holy spirit became one. We are on a journey going home.
