There was a school of thought which held that The Big Figure moonlighted as Carlos the Jackal. This was discounted as the Jackal was insufficiently badass.

Reading ‘75 ...John Peel was MC ...Dr Feelgood played Friday night ...never heard of them before that ..just come over from Australia..blew me away ...Hawkwind played after them ...but never got the attention of the audience........got to see Wilco many years later when he was a blockhead

Peel sessions were a must tune in for me back in the 70s. Never heard of Feelgood back then. Thanks to Peel I did hear them and now RIP John, Lee, Wilco and all those involved with producing these exceptional sound experiences. I have both Dr. Feelgood and Coasters ( I'm a hog for you baby, Poison Ivy, Searchin' etc } CDs in all my cars. Great stuff to drive to after a heavy graft day. Prefer the early Stones version of Route 66 though. Mick J and co at their very best.

Love the classic lineup, but I also like the Gypie Mayo era as well. I saw them in 1980, and the same year I saw Wilko play for Ian Dury. Two unique musicians. After the feelgoods gig I bought Brilleaux a beer and had a chat, after a few minutes 2 girls walked and he told me to fuck off, with big smile on his face..i didn't mind. good times
