I don’t think Dr. McDougall could do anything other than what he does. He loves people too much too have done anything else with all his talent. What he does is save people instead of helping them get to the grave like most doctors. Chef AJ she has so much talent she could do anything, and yet she chose this path. Along the way, she picked up people like me who benefit from her deciding to help her fellow man and woman. They deserve anything they get from their helping us. I thank them for their service.❤️

I've strayed several times, but I always come back to The McDougall Diet.
@courag1 Жыл бұрын
What led me to become a “McDougaller” was that my eating the Standard American Diet gave me arthritis in my back as well as my hands, were almost unusable. To say I was ready for a change. I was praying and asking God “What am I doing wrong?” And I heard inside my head… “Have you never read the 1st chapter of Genesis?” Well, yes I had but when a person is deeply conditioned (or brainwashed) to think one way, you just ignore what Genesis 1:29 says. God told us our diet was trees bearing fruits and seeds. And later in Genesis 3:18, God added vegetables when telling man what to cultivate. Eating thes plant foods for modern people, solves most health problems, but not all. The other part of the equation is that we were meant to move ourselves: to walk. But how much one has to walk to keep weight loss continuing as well as tweaking how much of some foods to eat, one learns by tweaking. For me walking 10,000 steps was not enough for me, I could get down from 200 lbs. to 145, but no further and when I could not walk, I gained 10 lbs. (I had a broken ankle - rather makes walking out of the question - it was not the diet, I just plain tripped). Now I am back to walking again since May of this year and am down to 126 lbs. But I’ve been walking more than 10,000 Steps, I am at 5-6 miles on average. I am not exhausted, and it works for me. I learned recently that women as they age are more susceptible to Alzheimer’s Disease, only if they walk, like what I am doing, their chance of getting this brain wasting disease is 87% less chance. I just know that being in the fresh air and sunshine is great for my mood and that if I miss a walk, I can’t hardly wait to get out there. I live in a very pretty area on my city. Seeing how to put diet and exercise together is sort of like washing your windshield, you have to really wash the whole thing at the same time or it becomes one streaky, smeary mess. Every day I try to learn something new. And if the phone rings and it my doctor’s office seeking to book me a mammogram appointment like just 5 minutes ago, I tell the lady my story of weight loss and the health problems I over came. And tell her why I bought the Audible book as I listen to Dr. McDougall’s book daily when I walk. I figure it took me 60 years before I knew about his diet to be indoctrinated by my family, my schools, the TV, the Media, attending church - all in regards to the Standard American Diet which has one promise: IT IS GOING TO MAKE YOU SICK - but you get to make some doctors really RICH! Not me, I can learn the information to save my own life and I am highly motivated to do it. Even if I fail a day, I just get right back on the “Starch Solution”. My failures come in when I eat out and there is too much fat in the food and we don’t eat out that often. Still I know it is better for me to eat at home. I can’t praise Dr. John McDougall enough for what he has done in authoring this book. It has totally changed my life.

And l only found the McDougall's in Feburary 2023. lm onboard....feeling great, weigh back down to my norm...my old clothes are all new to me again. l like what l see in the mirror....and most of all my grocery checkout is so affordable. Absolutely amazing.....lm pleased, lm happy. And the bonus is l love my mashed potatoes with golden gravy. White rice is my main food....cook it in my 44 year old same rice cooker that l got as a gift in 1979. lm good, the difference is there Yes, it is criminal. And for the 1st time last week on my annual l was able to say....No Mamo for me......just do me with routine and blood work to check my cholesterol, B12 and V-D.....

This is so great. Back 27 years ago I lost over 100lbs (and have kept it all off) and my main food was white rice, not because of Dr McD (didn't know about him back then) but because it filled me up, I did not eat animal products and lived on veggies, very little fruit, potatos and loads of rice. Still to this day I'm healthy and always have great bloodwork. Keep up the good work!!

He never answered should I rinse my rice. Yes you should rinse all rice, even organic. All rice has arsenic as it occurs naturally in the environment that rice is grown and brown and black contains more. Question is why doesn’t he recommend black rice? Also I thought the rich ate black rice doing my research as it’s the Forbidden rice. Lastly my only fault with his diet is his protocol does not remove heavy metals from your body. It will limit the absorption but removal is a totally different situation. I know he’s against juicing but some do need to detox properly before they can heal IMO. Thanks for your work Chef AJ

Not to be annoying but I keep coming back to this video for the link to Dr McDougall’s presentation and it’s still not there! It says go here to see it then there is no link. It’s the “full lecture and award ceremony”
The interview with Nathan Pritikin is monumental. Nathan had leukemia that he kept at bay for 30 years. I believe he died a few years after that interview. I love how he describes the lowering of his own cholesterol, very detailed. 🌱 To his patients he had to offer a little bit of dairy and a little bit of chicken breast so he wouldn’t turn off everyone per what they were used to. He would’ve preferred to leave those items off the menu.

When meat and fish becomes hard to get, what’s going to happen to our pets?
@workhardplayharderx2 Жыл бұрын
Long ways off however, dogs can survive on both meat and veggies, either one, they are omnivores.
@JudeQuirk Жыл бұрын
@@workhardplayharderx2 I am concerned too! I feed mostly raw and some cooked food...all human quality and home made. But, because of this concern, I started googling. I found a book called "The Plant-Based Dog Food Revolution" by Mimi Kirk and Lis Kirk. Not that I think this is best, but I figured I should be ready in case meat either isn't even available anymore or too expensive to purchase. Btw, like I said, I don't think it's the best, obviously, but there are people who feed their dogs this way already. Strangely enough, there are records of dogs eating a mostly vegan diets and they live very long. So, I guess as long as you know what to feed them, they can live this way. Thank goodness!
@1Sparkmeister Жыл бұрын
@@JudeQuirk Tell that to wolves, lions and tigers.
@JudeQuirk Жыл бұрын
@@1Sparkmeister Our dogs can, wolves, lions and tigers can't. I know it seems hard to believe and it would make me nervous, but if you research it, some of the most long lived and healthy dogs were mostly vegetarian. So, it can be done. Many poor people in other countries feed their dogs vegetarian because that's all they can afford. I assume the dog might catch a mouse or something once in a while but if you research, it's there. Technically, domesticated dogs are omnivoreish...mostly carnivore. However, I don't think you can do this with cats! Good luck to cat owners if the time comes...Actually, if I remember correctly, the longest lived dog was vegetarian. But, you really need to know how to get them all their nutrition. Ugh!
@JudeQuirk Жыл бұрын
@@workhardplayharderx2 Whoops! I meant to also say that you have to also be very careful because there are a lot of foods that are toxic to dogs. That's why I bought a book just in case.
