She may say that, but, after listening to this video she used the word, "innovation". Perhaps, she would find a way to use that phone to her advantage. They would have to answer the phone when she calls. And, she wouldn't have to drive all over. Dr. Mattie Moss would reach millions of people with her inspiring songs and teachings online. She would've loved it.

Dr. Clark created the 3 part harmony in choirs. She was also the first person to record a choir.
@cathyblack5683
@cathyblack5683 4 жыл бұрын
Where is this written? There has been 3 part harmony in choirs..MUSIC.. FOREVER🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️... before this awesome woman was even born..no disrespect. where are you getting this information? Look up the history of Gospel music...Thomas Dorsey The Father of Gospel music.. I'm old school and I remember Edwin Hawkins choir Oh Happy Day was on secular radio in Los Angeles waaaay before You Brought The Sunshine. My mother, aunt's each have very old wax records of choirs singing 3part before we ever heard the first Dr. Mattie Mattie Moss choir album. Before I knew of Dr. Clark, Rhodena Preston and her choir were in HEAVY rotation on the turntable in our house. There was ANOTHER woman before her but I forget her name. And it wasn't Dr. Clark. And as it was told to me by my ancestors there was 3part harmony EVEN in the cotton fields. Let's step out of the "gospel" box for a minute. What about the chamber music and opera chorale's (Madrigal style) Cathedral choirs singing hyms that are hundreds of years old and still being sung to this day. Just trying understand...🤔

I’m so happy that they made that movie on Lifetime. “There is a Balm in Gilead” and “Blessed and Highly Favored” are two of the best songs ever created. But what’s even more important is that they touched on the family dynamics of those who are COGIC. I grew up that way and asked a lot of questions since the men have zero rules but the women have to abide by every single rule. The no pants thing threw me too. This movie was really good, it could’ve been three hours and I would’ve watched the whole thing. Mattie’s role was played super well, they look just alike! I know it was super hard for her to not perform with her daughters because of the church. Rest in power Mattie!!!

I absolutely love the elocution of black Midwesterners (especially Chicago & Detroit) of a certain class. They articulate with enough refinement to let you know they’ve had good schooling, BUT there’s a twinge of Southern that reminds you of their pre Great Migration roots. The women, mostly, speak in this manner. I love it.

Dr. Clark is one of the people I wish I had the opportunity to interview, but she passed away. She was a trailblazer; an architect. And that's your lot, there are many things you may get wrong, but the core of your work and contribution cannot be denied by anyone. Many say she was mean and hard on young singers. I believe she was, but I also believe she needed to be in order to get the work done. I also believe she was sweet as pie because her daughter are all sweet as pie. And lemme just shout out to Leo, Dr. Clark's son.

Well times changed and it's alot harder to keep open with everyone striving in their main careers. They helped operate at a time they weren't as busy as solo artists and evangelists but now, it would be impossible. Also, funding is an issue as well. There was no point in keeping it open if it wasnt going to be ran correctly.

@@TC-ej8vi I bet if they wanted to reopen it now, they'd have many who would want to help fund it!

The depth of her God-given genius is hard to wrap your brain around.. More study needs to be done on the life and legacy of this amazing musician, composer, producer and choir director! As well as others
