My story was getting a Doppler test to make sure vertigo wasn't driven by heart disease..I was a slim fit, supposedly 'healthy' eater...as I expected they ruled out heart disease but as I was leaving he made the off-hand comment that of course I had some artery damage but it wasn't significant That stopped me in my tracks...I interrogated him as to what he meant...he just told me it's very common..even young kids had fatty streaks in arteries these days 🫣 I had watched Forks over Knives..a health doco on Netflix 2 weeks earlier...meant nothing to me til NOW...watched it 2 more times that night...rang Dr Caldwell Esselstyn in the USA (I'm in Australia)...changed my..our ..diet that night.. 3 weeks later my cholesterol dropped 34%..my hubby's 37% and his high blood pressure normalised....8 months later & hubby is complaining Dr E's diet is waaayyy too strict so I ask my local GP can I have a Cardiac CT Angiogram with a Calcium Score pls...she tries to talk me out of it given non significant artery damage 'is no big deal'...and it's expensive ..$600 AUD....I insist...sure enough get shock of my life when they tell me non significant artery damage = 25-49% blockage in my LAD artery...the widowmaker ....my husband was jolted into getting his checked too.. 40% blockage LAD but further up. My GP got in a flap...worried for me...wanted us to do this test..then that test...I rang Dr E instead...he told me i actually have early stage heart disease and that at least 50% of people in Sydney would be blocked like that....they generally don't have symptoms till 75% blocked but that heart attack ...espec with the fresh plaque that we have...often occurs earlier....so yes...we stuck with the diet...coming up 8 years in March...best thing we ever did....later learning about Dr McDougall really helped us bc, for whatever reason, I never heard a strong 'starch' message from Dr E but the starch message of Dr John made life so much easier.. At first all my hubby would eat was mashed potatoes with tomato sauce....we are thinking about asking for repeat angiography but Dr E has advised against them, bc of the radiation....his advice?...no animal products at all...not a drop of oil....and for those who believe they are sure to have damaged arteries bc of a poor SAD diet...no plant fats either.. Ie no avocado..no tahini..no nuts or seeds..no coconut. No caffeinated coffee...no added sugar or salt. So while our disease was only in its early stages, we have chosen to eat this stricter diet....thank God fir potatoes is all I can say 😆😅🥰 Dr E says main thing is the diet....stick 100% with the diet...if you're interested he has a fabulous book Prevent & Reverse Heart Diaease...and matching cook book and you could ring him through his website dresselstyn.com....and join a really great fb group 100% Esselstyn Reversal nutrition forum...I think that's the name?..don't join poor imitations though..this fb group is the BEST! Now...a word of warning...I ate what I thought was an exceptionally clean diet..i was always teased about being a bit of a health nut..no junk food....not much red meat...took the skin off my chicken...made myself eat fish even though I disliked it, bc i thought it was good for me...the best salmon etc...only ever low fat skim milk dairy but lots of it ..for my bones (..HUH WHAT A JOKE!....Left me with osteopaenia and osteoarthritis...) ..so yeah....if you're diet was 'less healthy' than that, you may want to assume that you're definitely in the 50% with a blockage and pull your finger out and do something about it ❤

My father was diagnosed w/ stage 4 lung cancer in June. Everybody including him & his doctor said nothing can be done but to keep him comfortable. I sent him green smoothie & multigrain porridge salt, sugar and oil free. I told his wife not to give him meat, dairy & oil. This goes on until today. When he had his scan in October, he got the surprise of his life. All of his tumors receded, not quite cancer free yet but considering he’s 79 his doctor doesn’t recommend surgery. So i keep the smoothies going & he actually enjoyed them.

I did have a problem last night which kind of relates to what you’re talking about. I had to take a nitro and I still don’t have completely relief, but it did not go into angina. I do believe the main reason is folks aren't educated and don't know about eating the right way. We were born with what is in front of us. But, if more folks now would find the Starch Solution and spread the word more would know. But just like any thing.... folks do what they want to do. To each it's own. People will find the McDougall's just like so many of us and their health will improve 101% for sure. And all the starch foods are great foods that was avoided

But... did he also change lifestyle habits after as well? What originally caused his heart attack, in his instance? Would he have lived to be a centenarian, if he had maximised other things? Difficult questions, I know. But gently here: outliers, and single cases don't prove anything in science. There's also a minority of people that have more efficient, disease free arteries as well after smoking tobacco lifelong, and they can smoke until they're 100 without problems. But that's not, as we know, the majority of people...

Im so glad someone brought up Lipedema. Disappointed by Dr. McDougal's response. Lipedema and Lymphoedema are different things. They are similar but worlds different and maybe he should research more into it. I think this lifestyle can help so many of us with it. I have it in my legs. It's manageable woth the WFPB lifestyle & compression. Could stay in stage 1 without progression.

This can be addressed surgically in many cases, but the starch based diet minimises its onset, in most body areas.

@JohnDoe-xk1dv
@JohnDoe-xk1dv 8 ай бұрын
D.I.S.H, like other forms of arthritis, could respond to the McDougall plan to at least some degree, if animal foods and/or vegetable oils are causing over time this kind of inflammation/ and any auto-immune reactions in the spinal tissues. It's got to be worth a try, alongside the exercise and physical therapy. No smoking, no alcohol, and no drugs also, of course.

Progression can be halted, but your calcium CAC will probably rise as the years go on, regardless of what you do, albeit at a slower pace. That is not bad. You need to understand the difference between a CAC score and a dangerous buildup of dangerous plaque. Keep reading about the subject. Most CAC scores go up with age as more plaque calcifies from soft and fibrous...into calcified areas.
