Missing Dr. McDougall so much. Spending my days rewatching all these videos. Weird I take something new away every time I watch.

It makes sense but seven years later I think risk factors such as High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Obesity, Thyroid and Sleep Apnea are understood to affect risk of AFib and Stroke. Nevertheless, once you get AFib...it occurs in response to the invisible hand of chance and it gets more frequent. It is important to treat underlying conditions for sure but AFib eventually takes on its own course which generally means more frequent. I have had 8 paroxysmal AFib occurrences over 20 months with three in the last month and then...cardiac catheter ablation Monday the week before last 9th September. It is too early to tell but I'd say the latest feeling on AFib is to get ablation done once it sets up a pattern of reoccurrence. The reason for this is that the electrical and physical changes caused to the heart by recurrent AFib episodes is definitely dangerous and bad for your health. Ablation for AFib is getting safer and quicker each year so 7 years is a long time in this field. I was under GA for 1:16 - 1:30 according to the notes for the entire procedure and the Farapulse Pulsed Field Ablation makes this procedure effective and quick and relatively safe for the patient. They have also got more data on the effectiveness of ablations...it is highly effective even if it isn't an outright cure for everyone. The biggest risk factor for AFib is just age.

my grandparents smoked and ate EVERYTHING in southern italy : pig fat , fatty sausages , pasta , olive oil, fruits veggies , fish and dropped dead in their mid 90's . The australian aborigine ate 98 % of their food as animal products . Kangaroos, grubs , lizards , birds . How come they are ALL skinny when white man arrived . ""its the food " . Sure . His life went to plan: married the girl he fell in love with . Never had to identify any of his kids on the mortuary slab < what would he know about the real cause of obesity: unhappiness . Plenty of people on carnivore forums eat butter and steak i know and aren't fat. Sometimes its not what you eat , its what's eating you

I like to watch videos by York Cardiology on KZbin. From the cardiologist who runs that channel, I learned that Vitamin C helps with afib. He showed the studies connected with it. I know I had been low in Vitamin C because I don't eat many fruits, and I don't drink juice because of the high sugar content. So I have started drinking a glass of water with Vitamin C powder in it when I get up. Doing that has cut down on my episodes (which last only seconds) about 95 percent. I also take magnesium, drink a minimal amount of caffeine and try to get enough sleep.

I’m glad someone is starting to be the public eye for the mcdougall program. Thank you Dr Lim. I just really want that starch based diet msg never to fade into history as have other programs like dr kempner and pritikin etc. the part that really pisses me off is when I see these useless carnivore shorts on KZbin there are thousands of views and this msg, there are 2. Now three. But people love hearing good news about their bad habits so…..

I'm still waiting for you to say, Dr. McDougall is back, and it was all just a publicity stunt. 😢 As time goes on, I'm starting to think that is not going to happen. It is so simple. Like he always said, the truth is simple and easy to understand.

I just turned 87. I have afib, had it for 30 years. Have hole in my heart since child birth. They did not fix them in the 30ties. Just got in from walking a little over a mile. Go to the gym 5 days a week, been doing that since 1978. Was a runner for 40 years till I had to get new knees. Take no pillls, no special diet. It's not what you are doing now. It's what you been doing all your life, especially in the 40 to 75 year range. Couch potato all your life, now you will have to do everything that should have become a life style in your 40ties. Don't say you did'nt know that. It's never to late to start. Yey, I know that's not you. You will find it harder after a stroke or cancer. Just do it.

Hmmm I have never smoked, rarely drank never been over weight. Ate Med diet since I was in my 20s. Very little salt. No sleep apnea, no diabetes, thyroid fine. Still got afib at age 71. Am now 78. Did have high BP in my 50s. but it's been fine since age 68. I have always been into exercise. Hiked, swam mostly outdoors, cycled etc. At age 76 also had unstable angina. I seem to be an a anamonaly as far as afib goes. Had 3 stents put in, no more angina. Now scheduled for cardioversion.

Could be your low salt intake? I had my dr telling me no salt for years. But he never checked my sodium levels until they bottomed out. Once he got on board with sodium should be allowed, he didn't check my potassium or magnesium. Guess what, yup very low levels.
