Discipline starts when kids are small so when they reach this age it doesn't blow up like this. My kids were disciplined by a timer and time outs so when they were teenagers this didn't happen. I raised boys. Consistency is a plus in raising kids. They never cussed at me or physical threatened or threw things at me ever. Trust me.. my youngest was a challenge but now is a wonderful family man.

This is what you get when you don't have clear, fixed, and consistently enforced rules when a child is young.

The parents need to learn how to calm themselves down instead of spraying more fuel over an already flaming fire. Teens are already navigating in a new fragile and volatile state all on their own and need stability and calm outside of themselves to help them through this stage

I have a friends with anger issues, extreme ones, he takes medicine and he is quiet, when someone REALLY upsets him, he will break thing, slur, scream and he doesn't regret it, because for him to act like that, someone had to upset him at an extreme point.

As my mother so wisely told young parents: if you don't control them at 4 you certainly won't control them at 14! Obnoxious self-excusing, immature behaviour. Very silly.

Tell you this. If she was grabbed the very first time she tried to talk like that. And got a really good spanking. Pain is the best motivator for change of behavior. Mental pain, withholding privilege. Taking away freedom. Emotional pain. Shame, guilt etc. Physical pain, spanking or just a good ole fashion beat down from mom
