When my daughter was 4 years old .. my husband and I noticed she was starting to act entitled .. we knew we had to change something.. Before the change .. we had been buying her toys all the time.. we decided to just buy her gifts for special occasions .. birthdays .. Christmas .. The change was immediate .. She became very respectful and thankful .. and no longer acted entitled Parents have to be on the same page when it comes to discipline and reasonable expectations My daughter is 20 years old now .. She's loving .. respectful .. and a wonderful daughter and freind .. I'm so thankful we made the needed changes early in her childhood

The parents act, as if their daughters became like that, one day, all of a sudden. This started somewhere. Children try out their bounderies as soon as they can walk. Puberty is really bad. They're getting hormonal, their brains aren't "finished" iow, not completely developed yet. They do crazy stuff, because of that. Once watched a therapist saying: "I think teens should have a sign on their foreheads, that says: Under Construction.😂😂😂

Yup. They're knowing exactly what they're doing. It gives me pause. And here is my difficulty: I'm absolutely emancipated, hell, I was born during the 60's. And I'm FOR women working, if they want to (which is a BIG luxury these days, to be able to choose. How many mothers have NO choice but working two or three jobs?). But somewhere along the line something went wrong when it comes to parenting. Now. It's easy to say: turn back time, mom stays at home, dad provides. Meaning: MOM has consequently the task of doing most of the parenting. I always get stuck, with my thoughts, there. It's not the solution and as far as I understand this situation well, dad is staying at home and mom is working. So there IS a parent at home. Then the conclusion has to be: those 2 girls weren't brought up with healthy bounderies, and that's got nothing to do with the distribution of tasks. Wanting to be "your child's best friend" is one of those 60's mistakes. I was very close to my parents but they were still my parents and not my friends. HUGE mistake. Where's your authority when you're "friends"? My father only became my mate after my mom died too early and my dad and me had to move on with our lives. I had a boyfriend from the Caribean and was astonished by the easyness, with which it was accepted, that very young girls in his family got pregnant. Most of them were scared, that after an abortion god would punish them by never giving them children. Their parents didn't talk about contraception- even though most mothers were alone, the father long gone, they STILL didn't think to spare their daughters that. I've seen a lot of such girls being very dissapointed with love, life and parenting; struggling with the help of family. Which is beautiful but I'd rather see them having a carefree childhood. Including safe sex.

I agree. Only 12 minutes in. My mom got pregnant after having me- she was already considered "old" back when. She was 39. The baby had spina bifida and died during birth or very shortly after. I'm 61 now but I'll NEVER remember how my mom cried when I, at 16, said to her, in a heated argument "Too bad!! You shouldn't have had children, then!!" I never, EVER said something like that again. She's gone for nearly 27 years now and it STILL hurts. These girls are going to be SO sorry when they grow up and have kids of their own.

The moment I was born, in 1963, the nurse looked at the way my father held me in his arms and immediately told my mother:"Uh Oh. Watch out."Daddy's little girl!"". They BOTH took it to heart and I always had a very close relationship with my father. But I was never, EVER spoiled. My dad found it difficult to say NO, but he did when neccessary. He was a psychologist though- knew what it probably would mean for MY quality of life, if he gave in too much. I had a lot of freedom and was able to explore many things. But first and for all: I developed a very trusting relationship with my parents. I told them if something happened, openly. Even when I knew they wouldn't be pleased; THEY were the first to go to, when I had a problem; at school, with girlfriends, with being in love- we talked and they navigated me. They thought it was my RIGHT, to make my own mistakes, and their duty to teach me how to get back up. It made me, if anything else, strong and independent. And I was quite a handfull at 16. I promise you that...

The girls seem a bit on the slow side. Silly grins, staring off in the distance. They don’t seem to be able to express themselves well (“I don’t know” over and over). The girls are too old for the parents to start enforcing respect and discipline. That should happen when kids are younger and flexible. They have had free run of the house too long. You don’t leave kids of this caliber alone in the house while you attend a church marriage retreat for the weekend!

Second part: It's painfull to see. How the MIL says she never wanted to step in between them- but I believe, that NO ONE would be good enough for her son. She will always see things she doesn't like, because she's looking for them. When I met my ex, he was living five minutes from my house- with his 82 year old mom. (That should have alarmed me, but you know how it is, when you're in love...I thought it was cute😢) Because he was officially living with HER, he always had to "go home" after an evening together. He decided to tell her, that he wouldn't do that anymore, each evening. ONE phonecall, and we could be there in five minutes. It was a bit ridiculous. She was still mobile at the time, she could cook and take care of herself. On top of that, my bf went there EVERY day. To see if she needed anything, if she was ok, andsoforth. There were other siblings, living in the same city (they were all from Curaçao, in the Caribean). They obviously had it easy with taking care of their mother: my bf did everything, mostly. When I came into the picture, I did a lot for her too (I was working in healthcare, with geriatric clients, so I knew a thing or two, medically speaking.), but my dad got diagnosed with M. Parkinson, so my focus, of course, shifted. Anyways: the evening after he told her, I was over there for dinner. My bf and I sat at the dinnertable, his mom sat in the livingroom, her back turned towards BOTH of us while she was singing along with songs in Papiamento on her CD- player and they were all sad lovesongs, as my bf explained to me, later. He, himself, was SO embarrased by the whole situation that he had to laugh- it WAS a bit bizar. Indeed if she was his wife, being left for another woman. She also, after that, occasionally mentioned to, f.i. a 5 year old grandchild, "No. Your uncle chose not to live here, anymore". To a 5 year old!! Fortunally she was very fond of me, so the drama faded out; when she didn't feel well, my bf stayed at her place anyway, because his sisters refused to do that. She had a very tiny home, but my bf was good enough to sleep on a matras on the floor, to make her feel safe. She's gone now. I know she had a VERY tough life, being born in a family with 13 siblings. Having to do their whole laundry as a kid, with only a stone, water/creek and some soap and later, having 13 kids herself, married an alcoholic that was beating her and the children repeatedly. She died on the morning of her 95th birthday.

How they even got to a point where a 6 year old was angry enough over homework to chase her mother with a bat is baffling to me. What has been going on in that home? That isn't just common 6 year old behavior. That's insane.
@smoly37
@smoly37 2 ай бұрын
I did miss that age...I thought she said 16. Did she really claimed 6 years?? That is beyond "normal" behaviour and if my 6 year old would swing a bat at me, the first thing I'd do would be taking the child to a pedriatric behavioural specialist or a psychologist SO fast... I understood these girls were playing up starting at their teens, which would be thirTEEN, at the earliest. But of course: the damage done, already. You'll have to start disciplining as soon as your baby starts realizing there are ways to get what you want. Even though they have kind of an un- developed brain, like a pet, they react on reflexes. They can't speak yet; they have to let you know they need something from you, or something's bothering or hurting them, by crying/screaming. Women that still breastfeed react very strongly to that. As soon as you as a parent feel, like your baby figured out what it needs to do to get your attention, you have to start to ignore them, for a couple of minutes, to let them know you have other things and people to give attention to. (obviously not to the point where your baby cries because it has fallen out of his crib.) Don't want to be negative here, but these parents ARE way too late. Me and my best friend said years ago, reading all kind of horrific stuff about abused children, and how that cirkel of violence and abuse can affect generations to come. You can't "forbid" people to have children. But a national, obliged parenting exam. When you fail at the basic knowledge, you have to take classes. Of course, from a practical point of view, impossible. But it would prevent a lot of unnecessary abuse and pain for children AND parents. ❤

Second part: I'm baffled. She keeps saying: "I'm your mother! I'm your mom!" and I don't even get, what she wants to get across. We KNOW you're his mom. Does that mean, in HER eyes, that he has to obey and please her for the rest of her life?? She also starts many sentences with "I don't know why (...)" but she doesn't give anyone a chance to explain "why". She just goes on and on and on. People, that feel the need to continually interrupt others, are in my opinion trying to cover up their guilt and guilty consciense. They KNOW at least some of it is true, but they overwhelm the other with irrational talking talking talking, until nobody knows anymore what the subject is. Nice diversion tactic.

Tyson's mother Betty is WAAAYYY too involved in the lives of her son and his wife. They should move FAR away from her so she is disconnected from them. Betty is spoiling her chances of having a natural and normal relationship because she just REFUSES to accept their marriage. Betty keeps asking Tyson whether he loves her and he professes to love her but she isn't hearing that. Plus she lies about texts and emails that have been printed out and are proof that she meddles in their lives. And she says she NEVVVEEERRR would do or say such things. Well, lady, the texts and emails are right in front of us, so we know you are lying. When they accuse her of things she has done, she wants to know WHEN she did these things. You can't quote days and times for heaven's sake. And if they cannot tell her the time and date she did them, then, to her, they did not happen and she is "right". She is a maddening woman who hears nothing anyone else is saying. She is ruining her chances of being in their lives and she doesn't even realize it because she is so wrapped up in her own emotional trap.

Betty clearly feels like she lost her husband / son. No mention of a father around so I'm assuming she put all that on Tyson from probably a young age or whenever they lost his father. Now she's acting as if he left her for another woman instead of her son growing up and finding his wife which is the normal healthy thing to do. She literally said she'll do all these things for him and he'll have no need for a wife. Okay are you going to sleep with him too because there's at least one need that a wife is going to give him that you most certainly should not

I've been around long enough and I have no Doctor Phil has either that kid pulled something I swapped pee for the test or whatever maybe he brought some in and they didn't check his pockets perhaps he did take something that worked to block it or he waited three days for whatever to drain out of his system it only takes three to five days for things like cocaine and heavy drugs like heroin and stuff 3,4,5 days- boom your completely clean! But Dr Phil also has to go with what he's shown foolproof though I don't understand why he doesn't call it out a little more and mention how it reads out with you I don't know why there's a reason usually why he does & doesn't do things. Idk, I think those mother's not too far off I think that that kid doesn't even know what he is yet and I don't judge it either way I don't think he does I think he's definitely been by and that's my opinion but I think he does use socially. Back to the drug test thing quick that was one annoying thing back when I used to get high and I was a DJ when I had another job or whatever where I wanted to take a drug test all the hard drugs were or seem to be boom boom boom the top like 7 days and it's gone but then marijuana you can find for 30 days plus it's crazy how it gets down into you molecularly if that's the word less than the other stuff.
