At best the police will take the victim's wishes into consideration before filing charges with the DA, but the DA decides whether to actually press charges, and the police decide whether to file them for the DA's consideration. If she sent a message to her phone from a friends phone so it looked like the teacher, then her phone would have dinged, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t write it from her friends phone. Why on earth would a student and teacher be texting anyway? That is not appropriate. And I'd sure hope a professor with a PhD wouldn't misspell you're as your, guess she didn't stop to think about using proper grammar, punctuation and spelling for her fake text. What a little psycho.
