When bill said "I smell a stand up for you" could he be referring to the late George Carlin? What Dr. Phil is talking about, this soft language people are forcing us to speak, George Carlin had a whole stand up on that exact stuff over a decade ago, that's why I love George Carlin so much, he made you laugh while also educating you on very important issues that would other wise fly right under the radar. His comedy is timeless and just as relevant today as it was then. I know they had that recent AI special recently and it was better than a lot of comedy specials that I've seen in recent years but it didn't hold a candle on the real George Carlin.

Soft language is a phrase that George Carlin came up with to describe euphemistic expressions that "conceal reality" and "take the life out of life." Cyber bullying is such a stupid thing to be overly concerned with. Real bullying involves real violence. You can just turn the thing off or go to another internet location (of which there are millions). If we allow real terms to be over used for things that don't even score a 1 on the 1-10 scale, then the value of the term disappears.
@DG-kr8pt2 ай бұрын
Anything is a stupid thing to be overly concerned with by definition. Thank you for defining Real Violence for us. Bullying can be a socially useful tool though. For instance, it can help prevent full grown adults, such as yourself, from playing video games and experience sexual stimulation with another person instead of watching others do it online while you pleasure your semi-hard self. Then again, playing video games is a fun escape and youve gotten pretty good at making sure your mom doesnt walk in while you indulge in your OnlyFans subscriptions.

He pointed out that she was treating her husband as if she was his Mother and asked her if that was the kind of relationship that she wanted to perpetuate with him? Because if it is you can say goodbye to having a sex life together. Do you want him to have an affair? To have a mistress? Because that's where your headed. I had to give him kudos on that response to their relationship dynamics.

HERE'S WHAT DR PHIL MEANT when he said he wasn't political. The topics he focuses on start out as academic, and only become political when politicians choose to address them. When they do, sadly ,they typically do so based on tribal, ideological lines anymore, and less scientific pursuit of truth. Shoot, now that I say that out loud, I realized that science and academics have also grown ever more political, with honest critical inquiry getting bashed into the shadows in many cases, and shamed when data doesn't align with popular wishful thinking about rights and power and the shape of the future. Shame on us all for allowing this to happen! Thank heavens for the few voices like Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, John Oliver, Trevor Noah, and Stephen Colbert, who, even if they're don't always perfectly nail the 100% absolute truth, and even though they have their preferred biases, at least put in an honest effort to discover and tell the truth better than every major US angertainment former news outlet catering 85% only to their audience. We're in serious trouble when we can't even have open-minded discussions anymore, but as long as we can still laugh at ourselves (as well as at others), then it's not yet the end.
@carolyncarrano12082 ай бұрын
Yes. That being said. Bill Maher was basically saying everything has become Political. If Dr. Phill is not Political why did he go on Bill Maher. The so called demise of the Family has morphed into a Political issue because people are blaming Liberals for its demise. What about Alcoholic Parents, Church on Sunday in a place where children are Molested and taught to believe in a place you Burn if you make a mistake. What about the Gay son at 8 years old who knows something is up and he is forced to sit in a Pew where he is completely invalidated and led to believe he is a demon. You cannot talk about anything today without it becoming a Political Debate. Everything is labeled Conservative or Liberal. Issues are not Black and White they have a myriad of variables and fall in a grey area.

Dr. Phil's trick is that the things he says that are true are not profound, and the things he says that are profound are not true. He sells himself (at astronomical prices) as an expert in (something vague), and sells overpriced advice that you could get for free if you weren't stupid. Apparently his 88 million a year he gets from his show is not enough, so he uses his platform to sell all kinds of other nonsense. This month it's his book (which he spends the last 15 minutes of his show devoted to a thinly veiled COMMERCIAL FOR HIS BOOK). On past episodes he has sold everything from his wife's face creams to VIDEO GAMES FOR YOUR PHONE. I am not kidding! On top of that he's hawking his podcast! His show has just become a one hour advertisement for people to send him money. He has perfected the secular television evangelist by wrapping himself in psychiatry/psychology and "folksy wisdom" while selling sensationalism and nonsense. (HIs license to practice psychology expired in 2006, btw.) Edit: it also occurs to me that Judge Judy's book is FREE. She gave it away because she said she had enough money and wanted to share some of her thoughts. Can you imagine if Dr. Phil GAVE HIS BOOK AWAY? LOL
